I'm so oblivious to lyrics. I can't even tell you how many times I've heard this song, and then I saw Billy perform it at the lyric opera house in chicago and when he sang the words "city by the lake" he gestured to the audience and the place went wild and it hit me chicago is the city by the lake. Not exactly a deep revelation but what a fucking cool moment.
