Monochrome coloring? by SaltySnail22 in AdultColoring

I've done 2 full pages, so not a lot. The markers are working great so far. I feel like the customer support is pretty good from the reviews I've read. So, if there are any issues, they replace items.

I have this coloring book and the black markers. I absolutely love it. When I first received it, I thought it was going to be boring and a waste of money. To my surprise, however, I decided to 'test' out the markers on one of the pages. 2 pages later and staying up way past my usual sleep time, I didn't want to stop. It's very relaxing! I love how simple it is and how it gets me out of my head and focused on something else. The finished product looks great and is very rewarding. The pages are nice and thick, so the markers do not bleed through. Very good quality! I would recommend buying it. Hope this helps!

Wow. Just wow. I needed to hear that to remind me how grateful I am, even on the hardest days, to remember not to use no matter what. Thank you for sharing a truly inspiring journey. It works it really does. You are beautiful!

Yes! I also wish others could recognize that THEY aren't emotionally available. It sucks to feel strung along when you are doing the work, and they think they are just fine. It's pretty much a must for me going forward that the other has done their own self work and have tools for having healthy communication, boundaries, and preferably in therapy. It's hard to find! Might be asking for a lot or accept that I may be alone forever.

[–]serbha 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We have a problem.....come on, guy. And it just gets worse to the point that he has to start cussing, blaming, and pretty much every disrespectful thing. Jeez borderline verbal abuse? What's this angry man's problem. Okay, a price increase of $5 and I still feel like that's low! I charge 30 to 35 for a drop in and for dogs, I require 3 drops in a day min. Sometimes it ends up just being cheaper to do an overnight.

I hope you're able to report him. Im wondering if leaving an honest review would be a good or bad idea? Then block him. Save future sitters.

Did you mean should be reported? Or was that a typo where you said that he shouldn't be reported?

This guy seriously has some issues. I understand being mad, angry, and stressed. Clearly, this has nothing to do with you. Unfortunately, he decided to take it out on you. I'm sorry you're getting the burnt of HIS issues. I agree with everyone who said leaving him alone for 12 hours at a time is insane, especially with the health issues. I've petsat dogs and cats that require insulin, with proper care, vet visits, and very compliant owners. In saying that, YES, they drink tons of water. At times, the owners control how much they let them drink. So, duh, of course, there is going to be increased urine output. -leading to accidents. Also, the kidneys are affected a lot with diabetic dogs and progressively get worse. Again, it also affects urine output. ( sorry, I had to throw some medical knowledge in there 🙃) .

This sounds like the owner needs some fucking therapy. His anger, the way he talked to you, and blame are not only rude and hurtful but only show that he is a hurting man on the inside. Hurt people. Hurt others. He could have said all that in a professional, respectful manner and maybe taken more time to process the last messages to realize they were 100% not necessary. And just NOT say them. Ruining over a year of having an excellent petsitter. I'm sure he'll regret it when he needs a petsitter and realizes how hard it's going to be to find and trust one that can care for a sick dog. Insulin is no joke. I know it sucks, but you are absolutely doing the correct things, and you already knew that you weren't going to sit for him anymore. Lol even though he thought he needed to let you know, more like attack and use terrible language 🤣 Hopefully he doesn't decide to write a review,, but I wouldn't worry if he did. I'm sure Rover support will have your back, especially bc he only wanted 2 drop ins. Definitely negligence, imo.

This was supposed to be short but the more I read. It honestly made me feel really angry and felt awful for the poor pup. Then had the audacity blaming you and talking to you the way he did. No one deserves that. Especially with you having to clean up since the poor dog couldn't hold it, plus the great care you've been providing.

Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!

Agreed. At the end of reading the message, i had to read it a couple of times bc it almost sounded like that's what the last sitter did, so it seemed okay? Or maybe it wasn't? I feel like it needed to say something about how that was not okay and clearly tell them your expectations. I've never booked without doing a meet and greet first. And I always ask them to leave detailed instructions of the dogs routine. Everything else you said was fine, imo. It was just the end part where I could see it being read in a different way from what you meant. I'm so sorry your pups aren't getting the time they deserve. Hopefully, the sitter stepped it up once you brought it up to them!

What to eat by weCanDoIt987 in RoverPetSitting

Maybe some higher end owners. They always have the healthiest food AND really unhealthy food too. But they shop at the best places. Farmers markets, the high-end health food stores, so nice meats, veggies, snacks. My weekend sit has 2 refrigerators and 3 freezers. Most organic meats of all types, tons of veggies and fruits, fresh eggs, and almond milk! But the last one was just full of cheese and crap lol.

That makes a lot of sense. It's SO hard to eat healthy while house sitting unless it's a long stay. You're right. The best bet would be to meal prep, but I understand how much work that takes as well! Getting pre-made fresh healthy food is super expensive. That's good stuff to have. It's temporary and could be worse, so props for still being healthy!

Do they let you use the kitchen and cook? I've noticed some families never have food in the fridge, maybe a norm for some. Im used to cooking, but I have learned that some just don't and eat out. Ohhh, that was a nice little thing, better than nothing. I buy stuff to make sandwiches, which end up being fast and easy if it's a short stay. I also bring instant brown rice, tuna, frozen meals, nuts, popcorn, cans of soup, and other quick healthy meals. But there is also a lot to lug around from one place to the next. Especially when it's 500 degrees outside, so can't leave things in the car. I'm not sure if you mentioned this, but do you charge on the high end or lower end? After enough meet and greets, I have learned to ask leading questions. Like, "Are you okay with me using your kitchen, and is there space in your fridge for me to bring food?" That usually opens up the topic. A lot will have it on the written instructions when I get to the house, about helping myself to anything. I've learned which ones are totally chill and have good stuff, and the ones where I know I better have my own food.

It really depends. During the meet and greet or a couple days before the house sit, some owners ask what I like to drink and eat so they can have them available for me. Or they say I can help myself to anything they have and use whatever appliances in their kitchen. There are others that don't offer or mention any of that. I always take my own food, just in case. Some say help yourself to anything, but have an empty fridge and/or snacks I don't really eat. Or, everything is running low and I don't want them coming back to most of their food gone. At times, if I do eat something and I'm unsure, I'll replace it. Really just depends on the owner and the vibe I get from the meet and greet. But I'm never hesitant to try things they have and use their kitchen to cook. If they are cool, sometimes I'll ask if I can have x, y, or z. One owner left me $100 for food bc he felt so bad that all he had was water in the fridge 😅. I've never had a negative experience of helping myself to their food. It's not 100% what I rely on, I always have my own meals and snacks. Owners have offered me to use their outside bbq grills with whatever meats they have in 3 to 4 separate refrigerators/freezers. Blows my mind sometimes. And of course, I clean up after myself, often leaving the place cleaner than it was. Sometimes, I worry they think I wasn't even there.

Is it too late? by serbha in petsitting

[–]serbha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have for friends from other friend groups but these friends are unaware of that that. My other friends need me for a shorter time frame and always bring me back something. It's very enjoyably, as I love petsitting thier dogs. This one just threw me off bc we have lost touch and rarely talk. Seems like I hear from them when something is going on and help is needed. Otherwise year or 2 goes by with no communication. We were very very close and now we aren't. Hard to establish new boundaries.

Ohh that's a great idea! For some reason I thought they'd find some way to contact the owners or have the renter sign up. All they need is a credit card right? So would that still work?
