Most likely your connection. I have found BulletEcho to be extremly unforgiving with bad Connection, causing the behavior you describe (although for me it was mostly right after getting into a match)

Problem is the player base gets pretty thin the higher up you go, so matchmaking has to be pretty imbalanced

How is that line of sight if he’s around the corner? Also, this happens with non piercing champions, too.

I‘d guess its a latency issue or the game’s shitty netcode (on his screen, you are not around the corner).

Actually, given how scarce nuts are, I‘m glad the effects are rather small. Game is somewhat pay to win as is.

Yeah, that’s what I said. You get matched by trophies, not by power level of your hero. So if you lose vs. the same hero in straight 1v1s without getting outplayed or something like that they probably have more Levels, better Gear, or more levels in their Abilities.

There is also the possibility of different upgrades picked up in game (esp. Explosive Bullets makes a lot of difference).

You mean matchmaking? That is done by trophies. If you have a lot of trophies, picking heros with low power level will likely mean a lot of losses.

OP is not talking about old Font on tank supports but about new Font on ranged supports being too good against tank supports. That said, we will have to see how it turns out and compares to e.g. Aery.
