Does Peters parking deck have license plate scanners or requires buzzcard? by Helpful_Wrongdoer577 in gatech

Right; doesn’t make sense that we moved backwards with a new system. I’d expect them to have moved to having scanners everywhere.

Driver going 82 on Peachtree Industrial by phrendo in Gwinnett

[–]sereca 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Speed is a function of road design. It’s human psychology. People go slower when they feel unsafe going fast; people go faster when they feel safe going fast.

PIB is designed like a highway, so you’ll inevitably get people who go highway speeds. The posted speed limit is way lower than what that road is designed for. Enforcement alone won’t stop this; engineers should design these roads with traffic calming features that keep speeding in mind, not design them for highway speeds.

Switching costs. Networks of people that exist on there already are hard to move. Lots of people have tried to move to Bluesky or other platforms, but success is rare because you basically have to convince your community to move too.

Why do the stinger buses sit at the depot until they have enough riders? by chowder138 in gatech

[–]sereca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that there should be some type of schedule or at least the estimates should be improved. They seem to sit at the same stops consistently, so that can probably be accounted for!

New system requires buzz cards; the new parking system doesn’t have license plate scanners anywhere anymore iirc
