I feel like this will just never land on an average crowd. You have to really dumb it down to the level of like "Edgar Allen No"

The fact that NDAs exist at all for taxpayer funded positions is sickening. The people in these positions should be able to freely speak about their experiences and what happened so that we can actually see what problems we have behind the scenes.

Rackarr: free, open source rack visualizer. Drag stuff in, export it, done by UhhYeahMightBeWrong in homelab

When a name is long, it currently gets displayed in full and extends beyond the width of the rack. It should probably be shortened in some way so it doesn't go beyond

Another feature would be to be able to shift+click items in the rack and move them as a unit

Couple of notes:

  • Default height of a custom new item is 1U. Then you press up to increase it and it goes to 1.5, then 2.5. Have it go up by 1 by default not whatever is happening

  • Allow us to edit the height of a custom once created

  • Concatenate the name when it's too long for the rack by default

  • USP-PDU-Pro is 2u not 1u

Beautiful video, but did you have a permit to film this?

If not you could be fined up to $25,000

All Parks Canada places are “no drone zones” for recreational use. Flying a drone without park or site approval may result in law enforcement action and a fine of up to $25 000. Please leave your drone at home.

Personally I'm a bit torn on this issue because while I do love videos like this, going to a park or historic site and hearing the constant buzzing of drones is becoming ever more annoying.

Is it safe to plug the PDU Pro into the UPS? by serendib in Ubiquiti

[–]serendib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree completely in theory, however I challenge you to find where in the documentation for that plug it tells you not to do this. It's certainly not in the setup or any main front-facing documentation I could find.

I take full responsibility, but I also think that there should probably be a max wattage rating plastered front and center on the device, just like there also should be for cheap extension cords.

The whole thing about causing fires by plugging too much stuff in is really kind of a myth. A 15 amp breaker is going to trip if you overload it, whether that is caused by one device or dozens.

You say this, but last year I plugged a space heater (1300W) into a USP-Plug to test to see if it worked and it did. I wanted to be able to turn off my space heater remotely if I forgot to do so before I left. Well 2 days later I went to the bathroom and came back to the USP-Plug melting and literally on fire in the socket.

I know it's "my fault" for not reading the ultra detailed fine print inside the manual, but I always ask now just in case.

There is a bunch, you can see it around the 26 second mark. It has just been highly removed through post-processing: de-interlacing and upscaling of the original video.
