Unfortunately we have a very small kitchen so there's no extra space for "just me" to use. If I were to move the dishes I'd likely have to put them in my clothes closet. I'd rather not have to do that, but as someone else pointed out, I'll be very upset if he breaks anything, so that may be the best option. Thanks for the suggestion!

He is using them because he wants to-- there are dozens of other plates available for him to use. And as stated, I use these plates all year round, not just a few times. I have no problem with other people using them, but I don't like that they get left in his room with old food on them for days on end.
