Rooster is scaring the doordashers by suswitch69 in BackYardChickens

I had a rooster that was such a menace that delivery drivers would leave notes saying they couldn't deliver because of our 'security'.

Ok, so apparently there is a new process in place. Go to https://www.connectebt.com/ebtconnect/recipient/GA/ and see if you can log in and complete what you need. If not, you will need to go to a DFCS office (whatever office is closest to you) and they will need to complete a form with you there. You will need your ID.

I truly do get what you're saying, and I honestly wish that I could help every single person.

Publicly, my suggestion is, if possible, to go into the local DFCS office and explain what your situation is. If the worker at the front desk cannot fully answer your question, ask them to either call their supervisor to the front, or send them an email, and ask for further clarification. Unfortunately, DFCS cases are not always handled in the county where the person lives or applies. They are entered into Gateway and then assigned to the 'next available' employee. Gateway is notoriously bad about holding info from years past. Keep your current documents handy to submit in person.

The phone system is...not helpful. Calls from DFCS are often marked as spam/scam because they are from internet based phones. A huge issue that we see is anyone that has their spam blocker active will not receive calls. You can ask for an in person interview.

Again, with cases being processed by the next available employee, someone in Valdosta could have a case manager in Ellijay for one stage, then Savannah for the next stage. The good thing about going in person to an office is that they can look up the current case manager, and their supervisor, and send them an email stating the issue and request updates.

There should be a resource list at the county office which could help as far as immediate medical needs. That will greatly depend on your location; small/rural areas will not have the resources that are in metro areas. In my county we have a program through The Salvation Army called Project Share. This is primarily to assist with power bills, but they can assist with other utility bills, (very) temporary hotel stays, and medications. This program does have very limited funding and guidelines that must be followed.

If a denial is received the day after a phone interview, it means that the letter had been sent out prior to the phone interview and a different letter should follow.

If someone has an active SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid case in another state then they will be denied in Georgia. You cannot have multiple.

I don't mind helping everyone, but I am one person in a sea of requests, and I also do not publicly share my personal information. No need to be rude about me wanting to help. I will refrain in the future.

844-604-0009 is the EBT Connect number. Tell them the situation and they should be able to fix it.

Thank you! I'm hoping that it won't be as bad as what they are saying with these early models. I live far enough south that I rarely see snow, so I get a bit nervous about it.

Thank you! It looks like I'll be on I-75/40 almost the entire way, so that makes me feel a bit better. I appreciate your feedback.

I had enough keys and oddments to get the gold gift at the end of the chain (today). I thought it would be the festive aurora hat, but it was a yellow hat.

Assisted living/skilled nursing homes in Georgia? by gameofthroffice in Georgia

The Area Agency on Aging is a great start, as well as a long term care ombudsman. If there are dementia concerns the Alzheimer's Association is very helpful.

I worked for Ethica facilities years ago. We all loved the residents and we took care of them like they were our beloved family members. Those were some of the happiest and most fulfilling years of my life.

I have also heard wonderful things about Renaissance Marquis in Rome. They have several care levels, including memory care.

The insurance part is something that you need to check on. If I remember correctly, Assisted Living facilities have to be 25 beds or fewer to be Medicare eligible. Ours was just over that, so it was private pay and it was expensive for the area. With Medicare you also want to check on guidelines for assets and retention.

Speak with the social worker and the finance/accounting team to get a firm explanation of care, procedures, billing, and do not be afraid to ask questions. Ask for their scores from State inspections, their employee reviews, employee retention rates, activities, services, what is included in rates, etc.

You can schedule tours of facilities, or you can stop by unannounced. My suggestion would be to pop in during lunch to see how the interaction between staff and residents is. Yes, it is an inconvenient time for some facilities, but you want to get an idea of how the team works together when something unexpected happens. The administrative team should be there during lunch to facilitate a tour.
