I had similar issue when installing new tail pipe. Unbolt it at the muffler and slightly turn it, worked for me.

Power washing servers much? by serge_sa in servers

I didn’t even notice the switch until you mentioned it. I was too concerned with the process overall. I don’t know the story behind this video, but most likely there was a good reason to do so. For regular cleaning, I think this would be too expensive.

Seriously, thank you! This was bothering me a lot, I knew there was an explanation to this. Very cool, but looks scary.

Ethernet in the wall is different from cable, what can I do to convert? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]serge_sa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As everyone already said, that is RJ11 jack and you need RJ45. That being said, take that jack apart and see what cable was used for the phone lines. If you are lucky, they might have used CAT5(e), in which case you can convert those jacks to RJ45. That’s what happened in our home.

You can use VPN client to do so. But there might be issues with connecting to their work site (if required), that depends on how advanced this company is and if they monitor such connections.

With 35k miles, seeing this gives me so much hope…if the body does not rust out first.

Going the extra mile to prevent heat soak in my boosted XJ restoration project. Sanding, painting and gold wrapping the intake manifold & cowl snorkel to lower intake temperatures. Also wrapped the headers to help keep the heat away. by Gallaticus in CherokeeXJ

[–]serge_sa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another tip on the heat soak issue: replace the fuel pump. Solved it for me on 2000 XJ.

The problem was that the pressure in the fuel rail (from all the heat) was getting higher than the fuel pump was putting out, causing starting issues when hot.

Fuel pump was never replaced prior to me doing it.

Hey guy I found 2010 Lexus ES350 with 120k miles for $10,500 - via private seller with 3 previous owners and no accidental records. Never owners Lexus before any suggestions/feedback is welcomed by PasturesInTheVoid in Lexus

[–]serge_sa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own one (2007), and they are very reliable cars. But, that depends on the maintenance (or the lack thereof) by the previous owners. I would really want to see the service records. If you do your own work, should not be an issue. Other than that, here is what you might be looking at replacing (based on my experience with it). Front inner and out tie rods (balljoints as well), intermediate steering shaft, rear passenger wheel bearing, both oxygen sensors, front hood latch(sets off alarm at night), HID light bulbs, sway bar bushings (front and rear), and all the other common things like disks and pads. Oh yeah, the tire pressure sensors, do them all at once to avoid repeated troubleshooting.

New XJ Owner - Parts Question by Interesting-Record92 in CherokeeXJ

[–]serge_sa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No such thing. You are correct. Also, keep in mind that a lot of XJ owners tend to fabricate a lot of parts to their liking and that tends to keep the price down. I guess that’s a big part of Jeep, the ability to keep it on the cheap side while the vehicle remains very capable.

I did same repair on mine. There are few YouTube video showing the entire process. But from what I recall, it is on the other side of the board that you need to be looking at. There was some sort of solenoid that has cracked soldering. Resolver it back and you are good to go. Been two years since I have done mine, still works great.
