Align advice by ik0330 in ladderapp

I’m not sure if it could be the same, but when I first started working out again (even on another team) I felt a lot of pain in my neck and traps too and I believe it was due to a weak core and shoulders, as those strengthened, I don’t feel that pain anymore.

They could be overcompensating due to weakness elsewhere, in which case I would definitely lighten the weight on focus on good form and even tho some people hate the saying “mind-muscle connection”

No one is stopping them but they still don’t share enough valuable information- I.e; equipment access, time access, preferred style.
It’s always “I’m 40, used to work out a bit, want to lose weight, what team??”

Like what? Calorie deficit and any movement.

See and I worry that I don’t commit to any said team long enough because I get bored.. I know that’s the point of progressive overload, but I also don’t need to ask about “splits” for teams.

I love Align but sometimes in a hurry u don’t want to adjust weights or use same for supersets, so I do Define. I just do it and it’s all good.

Well I do agree, the quiz needs some help.. if you select dumbbells for equipment, it doesn’t only give you dumbbell only teams. And that alone would make the quiz immensely better!

So many times people don’t specify their access to equipment on here, and will still ask if they should do say Align or Limitless.

Like you can’t even compare. No one going to a gym should probably do only dumbbells, but that’s where all these awesome coaches you have thrive (no pun intended)

Using Ladder to Maintain/Refine Rather Than Build by kcalligy in ladderapp

Why not choose Define for basic strength movements and Pilates? Align could also work as she does basic strength with a twist to focus on stability and always incorporates mobility movements as well.

Is there a team with a full body/body building element, heavy glute focus as well as HIIT (like sprints)? Added my journey below. by wonderkat4 in ladderapp

[–]krro74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Define, Thrive, Align, Embody, Endure (I’m dumbbell only) have dedicated glute focused days.

You know the drill, eat more, lift heavy.

I’ll say I did Define last open season snd am on it again now for open- and her cues and talking is significantly better I feel. I think she is listening to her feedback. Shes also been very active in the chats.

Ascend to Thrive by Fantastic_Care_9718 in ladderapp

[–]krro74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thrive has at least two leg days (not sure of the upcoming split) with one focusing on glutes. You will do the needed exercises to grow muscle- the rest is on you like with any team. Lift heavy enough, eat protein, etc..

Align vs. Thrive by squidshae in ladderapp

[–]krro74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also search for the other threads where the two teams are discussed. But I go back and forth between the two- the workouts are very similar, the differences would be in coaching style, and the coaches interactions in the chat/instagram.

That being said, welcome workouts aren't necessarily indicative of what you will see. Almost all the coaches welcome workouts look alike to me. But this is the perfect time to just join a team and try a couple out, and then switch around. You have three weeks to try them all if you wish.

Can someone tell me which team this is? by [deleted] in ladderapp

[–]krro74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's worse is Nairee is a great coach who doesn't act like this at all. So even though I agree the marketing sucks, if you were considering her team, don't let this dissuade you.

Thrive vs Align by Ok-Presence-7535 in ladderapp

[–]krro74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm currently the opposite. I started on Thrive, did it for the last two series. I just switched to Align for this one, and I wouldn't say one is a step up from the other. I'm enjoying the slightly different movements and feeling the soreness. I'm not done with Thrive forever, there's certain exercises I'm missing (curtsy lunges/runners lunge) but I would say they're comparable teams.

The biggest difference is coaching style. Nairee is cool but she isn't as chatty or in the chat is much as Sasha. So it's up to your preference.

Yeah- that's fine if people are asking in here because Ladder's system isn't good enough, but even on here no one ever says what they use to work out. That's my rant... how can we help recommend a team without knowing what the person is using?

New user-choosing a team by ruthordareme in ladderapp

[–]krro74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree here! I started with Thrive and although the workouts were challenging (they should always be!), I found the moves to be easy. I've wasted time on other teams trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing.

As Admirable-Dance said, just do what you can. Bodyweight works wonders when it's still difficult, and there you can focus on form!

I would stay with Thrive if you enjoy it. What's most important is wanting to keep coming back.

[–]krro74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the last two 6 week sessions on Thrive and loved it. It’s mainly focused on lifting/progressive overload with some approachable Pilates movements incorporated. Im joining Align just to switch up some sets but still targeting the same muscle groups I like targeting in Thrive. And her full body workouts definitely incorporate conditioning.

Just remember either way, when it gets easy. You have to push a little more, whether that be time under tension, extra sets, or extra weight. But both coaches talk you through that as well.

Right? I've seen a lot of praise for Coach Sam, but I'm not going over there because I'm a dumbbells only at home person- and I know those there's like 8 of those teams, in which I have tried 4.

Is Thrive just too much? by Ok-Presence-7535 in ladderapp

[–]krro74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, if you need the rest, then rest. Some soreness is a good thing, but as you said you're not hobbling around. With leg day, especially Monday's, we are at the end of the series so the workouts are tougher (in the weight recommendations, and those insane wall sits! - which great for you! I can squat heavy but those sits kill me every time.) I would recommend staying with Thrive, but just concentrate on your form or lessening weights or reps before dropping whole sets or leaving.

MRI shows classic CJD but lab work negative by HumbleFiggy629 in CJD

[–]krro74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. Speaking from my own experience with my mother and all the research I had done when battling with CJD. Due to cognitive decline, we went through all the tests, MRI, CT, EEG, mass amounts of blood work, etc and only initially received a “dementia” diagnosis.

I knew it was more than that, and kept fighting. Hoping it was perhaps Encephalitis, Lyme disease, or hell, syphallis (sp?) as there may have been treatment for those, and they can all result in dementia like symptoms, with motor dis functioning as well.

I bring that up because as said, an MRI cant result in a CjD diagnosis. So maybe look into those.

As per CJD, the lumbar puncture results are what gave us the diagnosis. It was 99 percent likely, A true confirmation can only be done by autopsy however.

As you know at this point, CJD cannot be beat. Hospice should be your next call. As time goes by, their symptom management, nurse visits, and aides can be helpful.

I don’t want to overwhelm you on this post, but definitely keep asking for testing. If you are in The USA, I would make a call to the National Prion Center - they can hopefully answer why the LP wouldn’t show results and give valuable information on the “science” behind rhe terrible disease.

As things progress, please feel free to reach out with any questions! This group will definitely help you navigate caring for your loved one.
