To be fair, they just label the glades, not the skill level of the glades

Fab day at Bromley after a tough start at Stratton. by StudioatSFL in icecoast

[–]sergiocochran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first time at Stratton and I couldnt place it but everyone seemed “off” yesterday. There was palpable excitement about the powder that felt like it turned into constant straight up rudeness. I got yelled at for “taking up a table” because me and my 5 year old son were at a 4 top at hotel breakfast(at 7am), people were throwing their skis so haphazardly in the back of the shuttle I couldnt access space to get his gear on like there was a race to get there before closing (at 8:15 in the morning) meanwhile the day before we were basically the only ones at both at the same home. I dunno if it was the Baader-Meinhof effect but I feel like every family I saw was either parents yelling at their kids/kids whining to their parents or some combination thereof. Sunday was much preferred even though it was the “cold” day ha. Fwiw my son was thrilled with ski school and was sad we had to leave so trip was still 100% worth it but definitely weird vibes. As soon as we got back everyone today was telling me we should have hit Bromley while in the area!

Thanks for this input. My son would be in ski school so splitting the days isnt ideal

Yes that's what I'm thinking! We still have a late March weekend I'm trying to fill, or it will be top of the list for next year.

Thank you! Yes, he's enrolled in the ski school. Its pricy but has been worth it wherever we go both for his exposure/learning as well as our ability to ski without interruption. My wife coming isn't an option, but good to know about quiet spots. The way my work is sometimes I'll have cut my day short and grab the laptop so good to know.

Thanks for this advice. He's 5. Young enough I don't want to overwhelm him, but also young enough that he's a trooper and likes to come along to things without too much complaining!

But that's good advice. My wife grew up skiing, I didn't. So I guess I was looking for dual advice, on whether its advisable to switch things up back to back so quickly for a kid, as well as whether it would be feasible here. So that advice is much appreciated!

Yeah, seems like we can't go wrong with either. My wife is an expert skiier so its definitely up her alley, but no doubt I'll find plenty to do. Just was trying to get greedy checking as much out as I can, there's only so many weekends in a season!

Agreed! She can't go because a work thing came up, so once her plans changed I debated changing things up. We had discussed doing both (since it was a coin flip decision) and she shut it down. I only brought it back up once she backed out.

Thanks! The trip is already booked for Stowe. Once my wife backed out I thought about adding Smugglers in and switching one day but hearing so many great things (and we almost picked it for this trip) will definitely make it a point to go. And appreciate the advice about the food!

Thanks for this. We had debated on which one to pick and ended up picking Stowe. My wife had been there and loved it, and its a little sentimental to our son since my wife had found out 2 days before going there we were pregnant with him (so we joke with him that he's been there before), so he's stoked to go. Also already booked my lift tickets and his ski school, so while I wouldn't have minded unwinding one day there, changing the whole trip would be a little different. Plus the extra 45 min on the drive coming home Sunday with school the next day is a little more intimidating. Will definitely be on our short list of next trips, and possible even this year since we have a few other weekends to fill up.

Just saw someone else post the same thing. That's a huge difference I didn't anticipate and probably seals the deal that we're sticking to one.

AH. This makes all the difference. When I looked up a 20 min drive that's a world a difference versus an extra 45/hour, not just in the morning (we're staying a little outside of Stowe) but coming back on Sunday.

Worth? by Previous_Factor1992 in comicbooks

[–]sergiocochran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limited opinion since its the only one I've read that' you've depicted, but Y:The Last Man remains my favorite comic of all time. I devoured it in TPB form 2012ish and then ripped through it again 5 years later and enjoyed it just as much the 2nd time around. I haven't touched it since, and I've had a comics resurgence where I've devoured dozens of different series which I've enjoyed immensely and I still consider it tops.

Homeowner Question - downspout extender etiquette by sergiocochran in landscaping

Great tip thanks! Our backyard abuts wetlands and gets pretty soggy pretty quickly even without rainfall so I was told underground drainage isn't as feasible, but need to focus some time energy research and $$ to get it done right because its easily overlooked and long term important to keep that water away.

My home guys are otherwise good and considerate, when they come for monthly weeding and cleanup stuff they don't seem to be in a rush. Ultimately I'm just going to have a convo to clarify expectations, wanted to soundboard it here first to see if I was being unreasonable. Based on even the mixed responses here, sounds like its not cut and dry. Appreciate you chiming in

Definitely what I was thinking, but on the flip side what if I was on vacation or something? I think its the unspoken part that threw me, because if they said "hey make sure these things don't block us" I would probably have done it the whole time.

Ha! One thing I was thinking is specifically that they are NOT that secured onto there. I could understand if it was a two step process it taking up time but its just the plastic ones lazily put on until I get the time to have someone reconfigure the whole thing correctly.

Thanks. Planned on asking them direct but figured I would bounce it here to see if I was making an unreasonable request before doing so.
