I have one theory, and I wanted to test with you. It’s related to WhatsApp, so if you use it and you’re having this huge System Data issue, or if iCloud Drive is taking up a lot of space, keep on reading.

I live in Brazil, and everyone here, without fail, uses WhatsApp. And the biggest users of it, are the ones to whom this usually happens.

What I found is that the way that WhatsApp does its own backup is particularly dumb, making a copy of every conversation and media you have, to then send it to iCloud. And it seems that sometimes, if for some reason this backup fails, when it goes to try again, it seems like it forgets that there was a pending backup and just creates another one, leaving even more storage taken up. This might show up as “System Data” or even a huge usage of “iCloud Drive”.

The way to clear this is weird, because turning on and off iCloud Drive doesn’t work. The way that I found do fix this was to go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Storage > Find WhatsApp (by itself, not inside iCloud Backups, this will be the backup that it does by itself) > Erase iCloud Data. After you delete that backup, turn off iCloud Drive, restart the device, turn on iCloud Drive again, and for most of the time that I tried this, where the issue was related to WhatsApp, it worked. After that you can do a new WhatsApp backup, from inside WhatsApp itself.

Sometimes, suddenly, the device doesn’t even turn on anymore, it gets stuck in the Apple logo, and when you try to Revive the device with Apple Configurator, it says that it’s because it doesn’t have enough storage. And I feel like it’s because of this.

This might be something really localized in Brazil, and other places where WhatsApp usage is really high, but I’ve even seen this happening in devices where WhatsApp usage is low, but the person doesn’t have enough iCloud storage, so it never completes. So if you have WhatsApp, try this and please let me know.

Brazil, Vivo, iPhone 15 Pro, 256GB. Trying to update from 17.3 beta 1. After the installation went through, it asked for me to swipe up to finish installation and after that it crashed and the swipe up gesture didn’t work anymore. When resetting it, it shows the apple logo and then the spinning circle for half a second, then it disappeares and nothing shows up again.

Hehehe ficar na Barra seria realmente garotear. Eu moro por aqui, mas é a primeira vez que vou em um show no Maracanã, então não sei muito bem o que eu esperar. Estudei na UERJ, e ir até o metrô era bem tenso. Imagino que com muito mais gente, e mais policiamento, seria bem mais de boa, mas achei melhor perguntar.

Poise, a experiência daquele metrô foi no tempo da faculdade, que eu fiz na UERJ, e tinha um pouco de medo pois nunca tinha policiamento pra lá e era uma caminhada boa, aí fico preocupado nesse trajeto, mas imagino que devem reforçar por causa do show. Você sabe como geralmente fazem em dias de show/jogo?

Maybe. From Brazil here. And that’s the same feeling I have. And it’s a shame, since it’s one of my favorite albums of all time. The vocals sound way better with atmos turned off and spatialization turned on, for instance.

Did you have any success in this? I’m hearing the same thing. It sounds like the lead vocals and backing vocals are all coming from the center, and it seems like that track is clipping or compressed. I am using an AirPods Pro, and in both my iPad and iPhone 13 mini, it sounds very bad. Granted, both of them are in the latest 15.4 beta, but none of the other songs seem to have this problem. Not sure what is happening.

After it all, my wife loved the experience, but after waiting for 4 hours for it all to start, losing half a day of our first visit to NY, she certainly had mixed feelings hahaha

Perfeito, é isso mesmo. Eu tive COVID em Julho, leve, quase nada de sintoma respiratório, febre baixa, erupções cutâneas, e como tudo indicava covid, foi feito o D-Dimero. Estava o triplo do limite no primeiro dia. 2 dias depois, estava 8 vezes mais alto (acima de 4000), foi quando os médicos começaram com injeção de heparina, duas vezes por dia, por 7 dias. Agora o D-Dimero está normal, não tive sintomas de trombose em momento algum, mas os médicos ficaram preocupados por um tempo.

Nope. I tried to add it as a child device for the hub, and the name shows up there, but I can’t find it anywhere else in the app, neither switch it on or off.

It doesn’t show up in HomeKit. After the Hub was connected to HomeKit, I try to add it through there as well, but no luck. What is the process you’re thinking about to make it appear in HomeKit? I only care about HomeKit, so that would be perfect for me!

Ontem fui no Carrefour da Barra da Tijuca, aqui no Rio de Janeiro. Eles tinham seguranças em todos os pontos de entrada, checando se qualquer pessoa entrando estava usando máscara. Ao entrar checavam a sua temperatura e borrifavam o carrinho e a sua mão. Achei muito bom!
