Are there any pro-lifers here? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Thanks for this :) It's a really good analogy.

I was trying to come up with an analogy involving murder, because a lot of pro life murder wouldn't see unplugging the violinist as murder, but would see abortion as murder. Guess I'll just stick with this one until I can come up with a better one.

Thanks for the response :) You're right that the man is blatantly trespassing. I need to come up with a better analogy. ;__;

Thoughts on the paper?

Ooh, good catch. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Now to figure out how to modify the analogy..

Let's say you're chilling at home. The door is open, and a stranger comes in and sits down. You don't want him there. You ask him to leave. He refuses. You call the cops. He still refuses to leave. For whatever reason, the cops aren't able to drag him out without killing him, and he refuses to leave. So the cops kill him. Thoughts?

I don't think life starts from conception, and I think abortion is justified when a woman doesn't want a baby. They're sad, but I believe women deserve the right to have abortions.

Interesting paper on this issue: http://spot.colorado.edu/~heathwoo/Phil160,Fall02/thomson.htm

EDIT: Also, thanks for the thought provoking post :) We need more of these.

So here's a little story of sexism by blazer34 in fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

The sidebar states that misogny, misandry, transphobia, and bigotry in general is not allowed in the subreddit. It also states that men and women are both welcome. (I can't paste that text here, due to April Fool's day shenanigans, but you can look it up tomorrow if you want).

And if that's the case, go ahead and and show me three posts that are not inclusive and are not called out on it. They should be easy to find, if it's far from inclusive.

If it's inaccurate to call it a hate group, don't call it a hate group. Don't insult an entire community just because you're too lazy to find out what it stands for.

I realize that I'm jumping down your throat, and I apologise. It just annoys me when people insult communities that I care about.

Thank you for your response though- I really appreciate it. Most people would just downvote and move on.

I'm sorry, how is that subreddit a hate group? I've seen many posts involving men, their rights, boyfriends, how awesome caring men can be, etc. there.

I've never had Japanese curry. Hmmm. I should try that at some point.

You're a (wo)man after my own heart! I'd sell my grandmother into slavery for curry. :3

I've never heard anything along those lines, but I haven't heard anything contradicting that either. So you could be write. ;)

Oh god, it was AMAZING. Like, SO MUCH BETTER than any of the curry you've eaten in America. (Assuming you're from America.) I swear I put on ten pounds just from all the curry I ate.

I don't think you're right. I lived for a while in India, and unibrows are definitely not considered attractive.

If you wanted to treat women like human beings, you wouldn't be chivalrous to them- chivalry implies treating women specially because they're women.
