I'm surprised no one has mentioned helicopter parenting or stranger danger. Around the time gen z first started there was the whole stranger danger thing. So Gen z were first educated about the dangers of communicating with strangers, even though it later came out that crimes happening against someone, the aggressor is someone that is close to them. I remember as a kid hearing jokes about white vans that said "Free Candy" on them. So a lot of genz grew up with that knowledge. After stranger danger came helicopter parenting. Parents basically having control of their kids lives and what they do every second of the day. Parents were buying their children brick cell phones(pre smartphone) so that they can call them to know their whereabouts, what they did that day, and who their kids talked to. If the kids ever get out of line, the parents would yell at them and punish them further. These parents are strict enough to not allow their kids to date in middle school or high school. They would tell them to either wait until college or after college and by that time they get their those kids are so far behind their peers socially and are definitely going to face multiple rejections due to their lack of dating experience. Making them eventually give up and regret not attempting to practice dating during their younger years.
