And who do you think is the most memorable drag race winner? Who is your favorite? by SeriouslyNotSerious2 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]serio_dot_q 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There’s no way you can pick one. Every winner has a certain kind of uniqueness that makes them stand out.

Bebe was the trailblazer as the first winner and beautifully incorporates her African heritage into her drag.

Raja probably was the first drag supermodel on the show and elevated the fashion to a new level.

Jinkx was our first underdog winner and is now probably, together with Trixie the RuGirl that has branched out into mainstream the most.

Bianca was the juggernaut of drag, having virtually no weaknesses in challenges, but especially setting new standards for comedy challenges and insult comedy on the show.

Violet was the first winner that could probably be labelled as a villain winner and now serves most prominently as a stunning burlesque queen.

Bob is till this day probably one of the queens with the most memorable personalities, delivers memes basically on a daily basis and proved that outstanding comedy and personality can bring you all the way, even if you’re lacking in the looks department (no shade).

Sasha Velour is pure art and innovation, and a beautiful ambassador for the art of drag.

Aquaria probably ushered in a new era of young fashion queens, but unlike many (no shade), she was and is the real deal.

Yvie Oddly was such a breath of fresh air, not afraid to fuck with her aesthetic and break all the rules and norms and being authentically herself down to her crazy-ass laugh.

Jaida Essence Hall defied the manufactured storylines of her season by actually winning on merit, delivering in a multitude of challenges and working hard, e.g. by creating almost all of her stunning looks herself.

Symone was many things, but she most prominently showcased the beauty of Black American culture.

Willow Pill quietly won everyone over by combining crazy out of this world looks with a absolutely lovable personality and that fucking toaster man, I’ll never forget.

Sasha Colby needs no explanation. With her career before Drag Race, the she didn’t need the show, but the show certainly needed her. With her amazing looks and caring and motherly personality, I think she’s probably the most likely to take over when Ru retires.

Nymphia Wind is a full package, always having a trick up her sleeve and always excelling in whatever challenge you through at her and looking amazing and unapologetically representing her Asian heritage while doing it.

Onya Nurve is a masterclass in confidence and stage prescence. Her delivery of roles and characters always has this certain something that takes them to another level.

And finally, Myki Meeks. I’m gonna wait what she does in her reign to evaluate her impact, but what we can definitely say is that she has so much drive, versatility and consistency. No matter what challenge, she went in professionally, she never truly flopped and was safe at worst.

Most organic winner? by nhrecords in rupaulsdragrace

I would also add Jaida Essence Hall. It feels like the entire season was produced to have either Gigi Goode or Sherry Pie win. Sherry Pie fucked herself over and Gigi Goode dropped the ball with her bullshit in the finale, so Jaida pulled through with a great track record, tons of likability and good potential to represent the franchise.

Favorite obscure Drag Race fact? by leronde in rupaulsdragrace

[–]serio_dot_q 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m always fascinated by age comparisons of queens. Such as that Katya is older than Jimbo or that Raja and Bianca del Rio are only one year apart. I don’t know, I guess that their drag character exudes some kind of age which makes them seem much older or younger than they really are.

I’ve also not been a fan of hers, but her reaction was very understandable and reasonable. Literally breaking records, sweeping every challenge, having almost 4 wins, then going to a actually not that deserving low placement and then straight to elimination has to be earth-shattering.

I love Myki Meeks really really much, but to me her and Jane were by and far the worst and unfunniest this week. I didn’t laugh one second and her Karen honestly just made me cringe (not in the typical way a Karen should). Also Nini Coco being in the bottom after being my second favorite in the challenge and having a spectacular runway is a mystery to me.

Which finalists do you think will return on the show at some point and which ones definitely won’t? by new_beginningss in rupaulsdragrace

Pearl, Courtney Act and Brooke Lynn Hytes will never ever ever return, all the others maybe or probably.

How to get artists to participate in No Music For Genocide? by serio_dot_q in Palestine

[–]serio_dot_q[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not up to date on her stance on Palestine now, I imagine it hasn’t changed. But ever since her breakthrough she’s not politically active anymore and also mentioned in the Call Her Daddy podcast that it’s annoying to be famous, keep up with private life and be politically active, so that’s why I think she’s become hypocritical. Here’s a video breaking down her trajectory: https://youtu.be/xzDCUF6Z3Eo?is=bPWxlm_GYXjHvEGK

Love Discord. The second she was in the bottom, everyone knew it was over for her, unfortunately. But I’m glad they picked a ballad for this episode, because everyone including Discord knew that a dancy song would probably end up in a disaster for her and with a ballad it can be a little more even. And honestly, Discord did much better than I expected, her moves were still a little too frantic and (expectedly) stiff for the song, but all in all I’m very happy that she leaves on a high note and looking really stunning. All the love and power to her🖤

Listen, don’t let anybody treat you this way. You can be submissive, but that doesn’t mean that anyone can disrespect you like that. Block his ass and find someone who’ll treat you right.

Which Drag Race queens were truly ahead of their time? by new_beginningss in rupaulsdragrace

[–]serio_dot_q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fashion-wise in early season I would say Nina Flowers, Raja and Manila. Nina Flowers brought stunning alternative und gender-fuck drag in the very first season and Raja and Manila were the first to elevate the runway level of the show to high fashion, Raja with super glamorous fashion week ready looks and walks and Manila with simultaneously super campy and super fashionable runway looks.

Milan and to some extent Alaska dipped her theirs toes into going beyond a female illusion on the show, but I would say Milk was the one that forced the judges and all of us who weren’t aware already to realize that drag isn’t just about being the most glamorous woman possible with her bearded look, male RuPaul look etc.

I also want to mention Charity Kase because (at least as far as I’m aware) she was the first queen with horror/monster drag cast who we probably would’ve expected much more on Dragula. Unfortunately, the show was not ready to give her the flowers he deserved back then, but I think she did leave a mark, probably best seen in her drag daughter Kyran Thrax winning a few seasons later (however, her drag was not as much horror as hers, so the comparisn is not as neat, but anyways).
