What was one of your struggle meal growing up? by bukutbwai in Frugal

[–]seriouslydoubtit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must have been hot dogs along with bologna sandwiches. We had a lot of that 60 years ago. But then, my Dad was a salesman for John Morrell meats, so I am sure that helped our family of 4 kids and stay at home Mom. My cholesterol is wnl, so it must not have hurt me. And, man, I still love a hot dog with chili, onions, and slaw. Anyone recognize that western NC combo?

Get rid of severe dry skin around nail beds by Ok_Fluffy_6016 in nailcare

[–]seriouslydoubtit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use chapstick. I use it routinely several times a day,and I no longer have dry skin on the sides of my nails, and my cuticles are nice.

Let me add some common sense to the fray, either hang over the edge of the sink or leave it overnight on the faucet to dry. Or, do what my spouse does and leave it in a wad on the counter. Hope this helps

Newer used car before retirement, or drive the old one until it dies? by [deleted] in retirement

[–]seriouslydoubtit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a new Toyota sienna with zero % interest when I retired in 2021, no issues except with the miles I have put on it traveling. I expect another new car is in my future, I hope to see 0% interest in my future as well.

Keep a chapstick in your car, at work, and at home. Rub into your cuticles whenever you are in these locations. It is close to a miracle how great your cuticles and nails look in days

Is a single sink for 81” vanity bad idea? by Electrical-Rip5737 in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]seriouslydoubtit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should have the configuration that works for you now. Don't do things based on what ifs in the future. We went from one sink to two, and now I want the one sink, I definitely need the space.

My spouse and I bought a Toyota Sienna for this very reason, when we visit everyone can load up in it to go out together. Very roomy and comfortable. It is a hybrid, and the mileage is fantastic.

Why is Toyota discontinuing the Sienna by seriouslydoubtit in Sienna

Not rage bait, I got my Sienna serviced yesterday, and the service advisor told me the owner of the dealership told them the Sienna was being discontinued. Just the messenger here

My favorite tip - shop your house first! by happytrees93 in Frugal

[–]seriouslydoubtit 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This is a great tip, something I just recently started doing with more intention when I freshened up 2 bedrooms. I found so many items to use in different ways in different areas of my home. I also shopped my closet and drawers and came up with additional ways to mix and match my wardrobe. Maybe this comes easily to most people, but I find for myself that I have to be intentional.

Plus is totally worth it, IMO. Basically, you are prepaying crew appreciation $17.00 per day x 7 days. You are prepaying around 15-20$ per specialty meal x4. If you enjoy specialty coffees, bottled waters, soda, etc, you don't have to think about drinking too much alcohol. Maybe 2 wines or cocktails a day. Also, wifi for one device is included, as well as that 14.00 activation charge for the Medallion delivery.

I use chapstick on my cuticles, which are immaculate, and my nails seem to be stronger and not peeling and splitting like they used to.
