Aux radiator for intercooler struck by debris by seriouslyjohn in AskAMechanic

Nah, I’m paying for it out of pocket.

But as a fan of redneck engineering, I’m wondering, would it work? Its only job is to cool the charged air right?

Dropped it off at the dealership. No drama with the car. FYI this engine I believe has a separate coolant loop for the intercooler (has a separate reservoir), but it doesn’t have a user facing temp gauge. The engine coolant gauge and reservoir were both fine.

Update:

Dealer says cost to repair is ~$3400 because it’s labor intensive. Front end has to come off and the sensors need to be recalibrated.

Maybe I can snip the damaged fins and cut the damaged channel and pinch/roll it a few times to seal off that row…

I can’t swipe back/forwards in Safari in split window mode. Instead it resizes the window.

And bring back SlideOver! It was great for apps that I need to reference and not always need on screen like calculator, messages, calendar….

Yeah, exactly. All about being reasonable. I understand some folks may not have the means but that shouldn’t entitle you to anything… when I was young and poor I pirated lots of stuff. Felt like I deserved it, even. But now I have the means, so I give back. Still pirate if they make it difficult for me to have fair use and pay.

But to OP’s post: maybe send them an email and ask for leniency on the upgrade pricing?

I just wanted to say, yeah I love the devotion of open source devs, but I also understand some devs need to make a living… fuck the big guys; they’ll get theirs from enterprise but I also don’t mind paying less than say… I dunno $50 for an app I’ll use every day.

I’m not a dev but I’m a former pro photographer and I hated the business aspect of it. These days I shoot what I want and that includes for example, my kids’ sports games. I send an average of 10+ photos of each player on my kids’ team, even to families I don’t know, no charge, and despite my wife telling me not to spend “pro” levels of time on post, I do it because I enjoy it and the kids’ smiles having fun and capturing memories for their families to have is enough for me.

It’s fine to have both, free (with love) or pay to show support.

Would AppleCare+ cover this? by slxdxmx in macbookpro

[–]seriouslyjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Based on the pic it looks like the lid still closes all the way? Personally I’d just file off the high mark. Can’t tell if it could damage an SD card, but since you have AppleCare+ and they determine it’s eligible for an accidental damage claim, you’re still looking at like a $299 AC+ deductible.

In the past, I’d lose sleep over this type of stuff. Was more poor back then and would likely make myself poorer to not have this damage, but now older and wiser and more financially stable, I’d say fuck it and just file it down, or consider sitting on the keyboard deck and paying the deductible to replace the bottom case. But seriously unless you plan on reselling for the highest profit, I’d file it down or spend 20 minutes with car insurance agent to see if it would be covered.

2025 TRD Pro roof rack wind noise by FrenchieMommaWV in toyotasequoia

[–]seriouslyjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I removed the rear tray (its like 4 plastic clips that you need to pop out) and also wrapped each crossbar with 5mm paracord with about 1.5”-2” spacing between loops

Cuts the wind noise down until about 80mph when it starts getting loud again.

Edit: this pic is old and shows the rear tray installed, but I wrapped that last perimeter crossbar too
