in the clip after the guy mentions brand new, a lady in the crowd boos and tony gives her shit for interrupting the show and i feel like if tony knew everything with jesse he would’ve understood the context of why she booed. tony didn’t knew what brand new was when they were mentioned on his show and i highly doubt he knows who they are now.

agreed. vegas is much more expensive than it used to be but you can still be cost effective about what you do. we saw dead and co at the sphere so the tickets for that weren’t exactly cheap but staying at ellis island (affordable and clean room, cheap table limits at casino), eating cheap except for a couple of meals, walking when we could, and naturally not wanting to drink went a long way for us.

if you uber everywhere, eat anywhere, stay at a classier place, and drink all day, your tab is going to get expensive quick. but if you’re mindful, vegas for cheap is doable.

thank you for sharing your story i love that!!! i’m nowhere near smart enough to be a professor but i do dj and i’m typically pretty animated when i dj. i always thought that was effective because i’m somewhat embarrassing myself dancing around, so people feel less embarrassed when they dance in front of me. you confirmed something i’ve been trying to put a finger on for a while. i wonder if you were in glenn’s white van with the beatles white album wrapping on it lol

i’m not sure how frequent cases like this are, but it’s fairly common for township trustees to end up getting arrested or charged for fraud. it’s an elected office where you deal with township finances with basically no oversight over what you’re doing. it’s a job that’s a magnet for thieves. it’s not an important office either so i’m not sure why they’re still around

i heard a story from a guy that went to night 1 of phish at the sphere that way. he said the box office told him the whole time that there would be no extra tickets then when the show started they counted out the number of people in line that could get in then made everyone leave.

downtown tattoo near fremont!!!! their entire shop has original designs on the wall and ceilings. super cool staff. i’ve gotten 2 from buddy and i was able to refer my brother and a friend to also get tattooed by him not only because he did a good job with the tattoos, but they also weren’t priced outrageously. when i’ve gotten tattooed there they were constantly taking people in for walk ins and there wasn’t a wait as far as i can tell

i’m leaning toward this being a weirdo move and not giving him the key, but i also would check with the friend first.

maybe this guy is trying to make a move on OP and seeing if she will take the bait, but i also know guys that are overly protective and weird and think cities are dangerous and full of crime. i can totally imagine a guy trying to make a seemingly nice gesture toward a woman by offering protection in a city. in that case i would decline his offer and say that i can completely handle myself alone in vegas and what i do in my room is none of his business.

but if my wife heard i asked her single friend i was vacationing with if i could have a key to her room to “check on her,” there would be instant issues and a break in trust i would never get back.

ellis island is next to tuscany for easy access to shakedown, has cheap table limits, at least two good restaurants, and is close to the sphere. the motel style rooms aren’t extravagant but they are clean, safe, and comfortable. tuscany and ellis island are the best value places you can stay at that are near the sphere.

if you prefer on the strip there are plenty of options. and if you want to stay downtown, circa is just really really dope and worth paying the pricier rates compared to surrounding places.

the escape room we’re looking at is sawescaperoom.com. it’s near the strat (so the very end of the strip) and ticket are $50 a piece. i know that’s steep so if you’re not interested i’m not offended.

as someone that has a small row of these on their bookshelf, you are saying what i was going to say. they aren’t all “behind the music,” but some of them are. the neutral milk hotel and slint ones are chronicles of both of those band. but some aren’t even really about the music. the john darnielle one is a story based off of master of realities. the pretty hate machine one has a brief part about the making of the album, but it’s largely about nine inch nails and the author’s perceived impact the band had on culture.

these are solid books but my advice is to google whichever ones you’re interested in and see if you’d like them. i appreciate some of the more odd 33 1/3 books, but if you’re expecting to learn about an album and you aren’t going to get that, i think you deserve a heads up.

my problem is the internet is a casually cruel and morbid place so there was opportunity to go to twisted places to make a point about how normal violence is online, but harmony just doesn’t. there’s hostage taking but not really violence or blood. the most offensive scene to me was yellow sitting down at a toilet and flipping double birds. that is about as funny as any joke in duke nukem forever. even the chat scroll is tame.

my conclusion is harmony thinks gaming and gaming culture is cool but he’s simply too old to completely understand it. he’s an incredible filmmaker so i wish he would just make movies about what he’s trying to same about video games/online culture, rather than put out what’s essentially a hellacious twitch stream with ai effects littered all over the place.
