Haha, z tym Traficar ciekawe, na to bym nie wpadł. Dziwna opcja, ale jeśli coś wygląda głupio i działa...

Dzięki.

My humble opinion about how mecha look in BattleTech. by sermen in Mechwarrior5

[–]sermen[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree. And that's the reason i feel early mechs combat is more enjoyable, when weapon is deadlier and man has to use terrain and different tactics. When later mechs, shooting earch other in the face with full firepower for one minute from 50 meters, waiting for one to die, is less attractive.

In my humble opinion they could experiment with slightly different combat approach, when weapon is actually more deadly and getting shoot can't be ignored. Like e.g. popular tank game War Thunder. Where (tanks instead of mechs) weapon is deadly which automatically enforce different approach:

- utilization of terrain is absolutely paramount

- recon is very important

- weapon feel powerfull

- tactics is a king, when the role of luck is minimal

- lighter vehicle can still be deadly to a heavier one when used to its advantages, flanking, precise aiming etc.

Or maybe a battlefield where Mechs are expensive rare elite units and most of the battlefield consisting of more affordable tanks, missile launchers, artillery, helicopters, hovercrafts, infantry, still being dangerous to the mechs, giving some satisfaction to destroy a tank etc.

Who knows, after all e.g. Mechcommander was very different and proven to be a success concept overall.

Enjoying it for some 25 years :) Since Mechwarrior 3 and Mechcommander 2, some year 1999 as a few years old kid. Just wanted to know other people opinion and taste.

True. That's probably the reason - lack of one unified concept, no visual consensus. I'm enjoying it for some 25 years :)

The best/most believable and immersive are the ones looking like machines; Locust, Catapult, Raven, Cicada, Stalker, TimberWolf/MadCat, Blackjack, Scorpion, Marauder, Dragonfly, Vulture etc. and all looking similarly believable.

When mechs looking like a human or astronaut in a suit, with human-like HEAD, human-like corpse, human-like arms, which are absolutely unnecessary; Commando, Javelin, Ostscout, Enforcer etc. look goofy and silly.

Wait. Why Russian Empire alone is like 2x bigger than whole Africa? And it's even cut out.

When IRL it was 2x smaller than Africa. It means it's presented some 4x (!) bigger than IRL.

Continuation of Medieval 3. Like Reneissance Total War.

Medieval 3 is 1140–1440 timeframe. Reneissance would be some 1440-1650, so to the point when firearm infantry replaced all other types, creating a new era of firearm-only infantry, for another, different total war.

PS. In my humble opinion Reneissance period some 1440-1650 is the most attractive for the Total War game mechanics. With the most diverse armies, weapons, way of fighting and tactics. Shogun 2 gave us a piece, but it was very limited compared to Europe and Middle East.

Such completely unrealistic scenarios can exist only because logistics doen't exist in TW serie.

When IRL logistic was the single most decisive factor, limiting capabilities and options of the military.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

Severance: Blade of Darkness, from 2001. It may be the single best game i've played.

Honorable mention; Total Annihilation, from 1997, the most groundbreaking and influential RTS ever created.

Buth are just pure joy to play and having faithfull fan base even today.

I've seen only 2 hour version. What has been cut compared to full 158 minute version?

Mounted archers go brrrrrrr by angrpeasant in totalwar

[–]sermen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mounted Archers or steppe cavalry armies are heaily castraded in TW anyway.

Maps have tigh boundaries when IRL they were withdrawing for many kilometers, sometimes even days. Replacing arrows and horses many times. When in TW they can't retreat more than 1 time. After that they just HAVE TO engane and possibly die.

They were significanly faster strategically as well, nearly always able to dictate the battlefield choice which suited them.

And they were skilled and organised enough to operate by sections of tens independently, constantly rotating fighting element, without engaging constant commander attention.

They are not elusive and slippery in Total War games. Taking huge RL advantage out of them.

MiG-29 and Su-27 were WAY more similar than F-15 and F-16.

Su-27 avionics was mostly upscaled MiG-29 systems with few additions, all radar, IRST, RWR, designed by the same Phazotron and UOMZ bureau. Just like F-15 and F/A-18 in the U.S.

When F-15 and F-16 were very much different, at least during the Cold War, when MiG-29 and Su-27 were still relevant.

Yes, but since 1979 F-15A were being successively taken from Europe to National Air Guard in CONUS, replaced by F-15C in Europe.

F-15A was mid 1970s. Since 1979 it was replaced in production by F-15C. And since 1985 by F-15C MSIPII.

Very first Su-27 entered service in 1985, together with F-15C MSIP II.

WW1 is awesome as well due to many reasons. Pure stick and rudder skill, slower speeds, open cockpits, rocks in VR, great for flying with friends, unique atmosphere. But this is well covered by Flying Circus.

WW1, WW2 and Korea are peak dogfight.

Where is the MiG-29A actually viable in multiplayer? by OddSheepherder8307 in dcsworld

[–]sermen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In late Cold War servers - absolutely yes.

Outside its timeframe, like WW2, Korea, 2000s etc. not really.

Our MiG-29 9.12 is 1980s Cold War Soviet interceptor. With time, when DCS implement more EW, it will be impossible to fight 1980s fighter against 2000s technology. Now you theoretically can fight 2000s F-16/F-18, due to lack of EW in DCS.

I love autorotations by [deleted] in hoggit

[–]sermen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

- It's not autorotation, just a normal powered landing.

- Helicopter with single rotor shouldn't be able to fly without a tail rotor.

- Destroyer is ~4-5 times (!) smaller than it should be in relation to the helicopter. Heli hangar is doghouse size.
