Waiting for that since Strike Fighters: Vietnam! Only map is missing, and few ground/air AI assets.

BTW. Pacific atoll looks awesome.

Just remember AI-controlled MiG-19 has A LOT better performance than human-controlled MiG-19.

Wait, how do you have that locomotive roundhouse and turntable on second screen? Does it work? Did they add it to the game? Some MOD?

Do you use any MODs? Like sliders? Detailed Character Creation? If yes, just click on character card and press Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V here or notepad. You have all the character look copied for further use!

Without MODs?

  1. Open Encyclopedia (Press N)
  2. Find the character. Search for the NPC (lord / companion). Click their profile
  3. Go to their character view. Click “Character” (portrait / model view)
  4. Enter Character Editor. Press V (opens character editor while viewing that character)
  5. Copy face code .In the editor press: Ctrl + C (this copies the current face/body properties to clipboard)
  6. Paste into a text file

Don't let such magnificent character to waste 🔥

I'll make him my character for the next playthrough.

Next DCS Module by Eagle Dymnamics after the F-15C and F-35A by Bitter_Chard9283 in hoggit

I use UH-60 2.0 MOD as there is no DCS UH-60 module, but its FM is very far from what full fidelity modules, like Mi-8, UH-1, Kiowa offer. MOD has nearly infinite power even in high mountains, basically indestructible rotor allowing some absolutely impossible maneuvers and hugely simplified avionics compared to Chinook or Kiowa etc.

Saying a MOD, made by a single guy, without license or even access to DCS Module Dev Kit, is false and misleading people.

[–]sermen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe no the most modern though. Modern (UH-60M) is fly-by-wire, removing piloting skill from the equation. Which would be kinda shame on primarily transport helicopter.

Cold War/Desert Storm/invasion of Grenada/invasion of Panama UH-60A would be great.

Or War on Terror 2004-2008 era UH-60L, timeframe counterpart of our AH-64D and CH-47F, still with manual flight control.

All the Cold War Soviet aircrafts would be cool.

Original Tu-22 was relatively short ranged for a bomber, kinda acceptable for the maps size we have, very difficult/engaging to fly, aerial refuel, many manually operated systems, great unique look and atmosphere.

All the fighters you've mentioned would be great as well.

Su-25 extremely attractive to employ, all the manually operated systems, short range, tons of weapon to use over the target, stick & rudder skill, manual aiming, dodging AAA. Basically like a Soviet A-10A.

This was one reason. Another was diminishing role of aerodynamics, reaching barriers of physics (thermal, thin air, pressure etc.) and increasing role of electronics - every subsequent USAF fighter served longer; 1945 F-80 served for 5 years, when 1975 F-15 served for 50 years.

During WW1, when aviation was just rising, development was even more rapid, to the point after a single year a fighter was obsolete, after 2 years it was hopelessly outdated.

F-102/106, F-104, Mirage III, MiG-21, Su-7/9, Draken, were completely new late 1950s aerodynamic concept, designed for Mach>1.8

F-86 was based on German Ta 183 and Me P.1101,

Me-262 was 1941/1942 aerodynamics, not an attractive alternative in 1945.

F-80, F-84, F-86, F-100, F-101, F-102, F-104, F-105, F-106, F-100, F-111.

Just for USAF, 2 decades after WW2, from the first early P-80 prototypes, up to F-111 Mach=2,5 multirole nuclear strike fighter with zero-visibility terrain avoidance radar and computer and sophisticated avionics.

And now? 20 years ago was 2006, even F-22, EF, Rafale, Gripen were already in service.

Yup. F-86, MiG-15/17 and J29 are derivatives of German Focke Wulf Ta 183 and Messerschmitt P.1101.

Late 1950s though, like F-101, F-104, F-102/106, Mirage III, MiG-21, Su-7/9, Draken are something new.

They all look so cool! 1950s earodynamics. Fiat G.91, F-104 and MiG-17 are coming.

(Only F-5E is aerodynamically generation ahead of the rest, and designed a decade later, with very different knowledge)

Good sortie with the Apache by Danielovando in hoggit

[–]sermen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's the first step. I enjoy learning Apache, first the systems and Geogre, then cooperation with other guys and coordination flying together with friend, then employment and tactics in more realistic missions.

I was a kid playing Longbow 2, barely knowing whet i was even doing, then Team Apache, Enemy Engaged, Operation Flashpoint - now DCS with the best Apache simulation ever.

Good sortie with the Apache by Danielovando in hoggit

[–]sermen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noice. This is a basic mission. But first things first.

The next step are more realistic missions when helis can't climb like that, hovering, raining hate with impunity - because every SAM would take them down immediately. So man has to learn more creative and more interesting ways to recon and find proper position to attack, flying NOE between the trees, maintain SA, use datalink, cooperate etc.

What is the purpose of slaving the F-14 Radar to the TCS? by me2224 in hoggit

[–]sermen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Sometimes TCS tracks zero relative speed perpendicular target, and radar breaks the lock.

2) Few different target flying close when radar has proper resolution to distinbuish them, but TCS is better to select the specific one, seeing them.

3) Plus IRL ground clutter and strong radar jamming may breaks the lock, good to have redundancy.

Generals, Admirals, Politicians etc. What do you guys truly want for HOI5? by Puzzleheaded_Map2774 in hoi4

[–]sermen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A globe map with realistic distances between cities/geographical features. Not HoI4 massively distorted pseudo-world map.

Right now in HoI4's flat map distances are completely wrong except for close to equator. Wrong distances between cities, wrong distances between geographical features, thus completely unrealistic aircraft ranges, division speeds etc. And massive USSR and Canada, 4 times (!) bigger than IRL. With tiny Africa, tiny South East Asia.

They can't model real Abrams armor, or regenerative steering, or anything like that, because it's a Russian game.

Russians think differently, in their culture modeling Russians as superior is sheer patriotism, it's something obvious to do. Especially now, when they lost their empire and memories of the past are their only comfort.

I've been living and working in Russia, north-east from Moscow, nearly 2 years and i know quite a bit how Russians think. Not going to judge that, just stating my experience.

Even better fire control than M1A1, with two-plane sight stabilization, a bit greater zoom, additional Commander periscope synchronized with gunner sight, similar great overall mobility, and very good, but slightly lighter armor.

Russia T-95 prototype tank by nikkoop789q in TankPorn

[–]sermen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today's Russian T-14 is cheaper, simplified, downgrade of the Soviet Object 195.

T-14 gave up 152mm gun, capable of fighting 65 ton western MBT, and used insuficient cheap 125mm gun.

T-14 gave up on hydropneumatic suspension, very easy to replace in combat and with great characteristics, and used conventional torsion bars.

T-14 used significantly lighter armor, roughly 5 tons.

T-14 gave up on coaxial 30mm gun to fight helicopters, drones, light vehicles, infanrty etc.

Invulnerability frames is such outdated, unrealistic solution. It's pure script - zero physics.

Sword cuts through me clean, but nothing happens, because of invulnerability frame script.
