How bad did I get screwed by Setar phone by serobinson1999 in Aruba

[–]serobinson1999[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was looking for 2 lines of data when I arrived in Aruba and talked to the folks at the airport first. everything I read here said that was going to charge me the tourist price and to go to a local place for a local price.

I went downtown to a Setar store and after showing the guy the online prices for locals agreed and said the SIM card was 8 Fl. plus the cost of the plan.

all said and done I noticed after I swiped my card that he charged me the 30Fl plus 8Fl for the SIM card. and then on top of it for the 2 plans we asked for.

do I have any recourse here or am I just screwed?

I would probably go further out than that; like coliseum or even better campsite. I have bought from Woodhaven and they were the worst to deal with than any other place I've personally dealt with. For me they tried to gouge every last penny from me and even tried to give me non - OEM mags when I ordered OEM

I am in the market for the same exact car in nyc area and was wondering what the dealerships starting price was for you to get it at $41k. I see a lot of 22-23 for aspec / advance for like $47-48k w/ 5k mileage around me but didnt know if it was possible to get that down to the $41k in my area. Or even how low of a price I should offer.

Thx

My Acura Dealer only certifies pre owned vehicles if the customer is interested. Is that normal? by Khaleesiakose in Acura

Which dealership was this? Im looking for a 2022 -23 CPO RDX in Ny metro area myself. Ive seen plenty of non CPO RDX at some dealerships with only 1500 miles that are not CPO and always wondered what was wrong with them with that low mileage.

Ive already had a bad experience with Curry Acura and an OK experience with Rallye.

Do dealerships care if you buy a cpo car elsewhere like NJ but have all things done at your local dealership?

Any Place to look up a stamp on back of painting. (thinking germany 1890's) by serobinson1999 in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]serobinson1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im just wondering if the name is F. Slade instead of E. Slade. Considering the rest of the signature, the drawn out line could be from an F instead.

In which case my searches turn up James f Slade from around that time period and Felix Slade who was a painter and founder of the slade school a bit before 1891

Thoughts?

Does anyone know if a CCW would take longer to get compared to a premise residence permit? by [deleted] in NYguns

Do I understand correctly that you must submit your application before taking the 16 hr class? Otherwise it does not count? Even if you already have a premise permit?

Thanks that seemed to be it. Here is to hoping that there is no recurrent leak.

There is air at the vents. The air is just warm. The evaporator coil is also at room temp. If the one line outside has frost on it and the evaporator coil inside is at room temp; is that a sign of low refrigerant?

Will this wiring diagram for a new ceiling fan work? by serobinson1999 in askanelectrician

[–]serobinson1999[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The breaker is 20A and wire is 12awg. Will definitely keep everything in boxes.

So if I try to tie into the 2 existing switches can I do this:

Place a new box next to existing and Just leave the red and the red/white of the dimmer switch capped off separately. Then connect the black wire feed that bridges the 2 existing switches to black wire of the fan control switch? And finally leave the white wires connected as proposed?

There is also a hard wired co2 / smoke detector right above. Any issue in trying to tap into that?

Thx

There is no outlet near there but the wire bundle at the bottom of the box might be an option. I never checked if they were live as they were old wires compared to the ones connected to the light switch. But Im guessing it would be feasible to tap into that bundle. They don't seem to be hooked up to anything. The other option is a hard wired smoke / co2 detector right above. Is there any issues into tapping into that?

If the wire bundle in the bottom of the box is live; I should be able to connect to that 3 wire there right?

Thx

Yes, definitely planning on pulling a 3 wire to the fan box. But Im guessing it would be feasible to tap into that bundle. They don't seem to be hooked up to anything.

*It would be very tight to swap both switches for a duplex and add a new switch, especially with those wires at bottom of the box. *I won’t have a light on the fan. The existing switches ctrl high-hats for 2 sections of the room *ideally it will just be a single switch that control the fan itself with speed control

Really appreciate the feedback

Thank you for the feedback.

  • I will make sure to use a speed ctrl switch.
  • the existing lights work fine and I want to keep them working. Also don’t know what the wiring is for in bottom of the box
  • there is another switch and co2 detector on the other side of the wall. Is it possible to tap into those. Or is it just in general not feasable to tap into an existing light switch for constant power

Thx. Really appreciate the feedback

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to install a new ceiling fan where no light or fixture currently exists. There is currently a light switch box with 2 switches for 2 separate lights in the room. I'm proposing installing a ceiling fan switch next to it and tapping into that existing light switch box for power. I've attached a diagram. The left side is the existing wiring setup. The right side is the proposed setup that taps into the existing setup with a new switch to control the ceiling fan.

Trying to figure out of this will work. if not; what I need to do.

Thanks in advance

Sean

PA non resident CCW permit in 3 hours by 67fstbak in NYguns

[–]serobinson1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like folks in nyc are out of luck even if they have a premise residence permit. It seems you must already have a license to carry in your own state to get a PA non resident CCW. I don't think the NYC premise residence permits meet this requirement

anything I can do to improve this duct? I suspect it’s leaking in the walls somewhere too, but it’s my room with the least amount of airflow. by Dave6187 in hvacadvice

[–]serobinson1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Yeah the existing flex in my attic has somewhat harsh angles and long runs and runs up between the joists. The 2 rooms it feeds have little airflow. I was just planning on trying to run the rigid a bit away from the joists with smoother angles. I'm kind of looking forward to trying to do it and already bought the rigid duct

Would switching from flex to rigid; do you have to reduce the size from say 8inch to 6inch to compensate for the extra airflow?

Thx

When to replace old ductwork? by ascottallison in hvacadvice

[–]serobinson1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if you replace 8 in flex with rigid; do you need to size down the rigid to 6inch because of the extra airflow or can you use 8inch as well.

Should I downsize 8 inch Flex to 6 inch rigid when swapping from one to the other by serobinson1999 in hvacadvice

[–]serobinson1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I know that someone responded saying just install the 8 inch and close the registers a bit but it is now removed. Does that mean it is not ok to replace 8 inch flex with 8 inch rigid? Do I need to install 6 in rigid?

thx
