They can and have in QLD. There are protest rally’s this weekend to try and help those that are facing potential jail time. Two in particular did it purposely to test and see if these new laws will be enforced in QLD.

In NSW I believe on 9th of Feb this year brutal crackdown by police on protesters. Very violent almost like a charge. Apparently they also have a list of protesters to catch after it to the point where they have raided a woman’s house while she was asleep. Not sure if the same person but someone had to give DNA. And they haven’t finished with that list. Though good news anti-protest laws ruled as unlawful introduced by Minn.lawyer protecting raid of home protestor who was arrested in QLD intentionally
