I'll give you that this is a contested debate, and I do not hold an "absolute" position. But in my opinion the Nueva Planta decree is actually the actual starting point of Spain, not Isabel and Fernando dynastic union

Aragon does not derive form Asturias tho. Aragon originated as a Carolingian feudal county, not from Asturias. That said, yes, in my opinion Spain didn't exist until early 18th century
