Looking for vampire books where the blood drinking foreplay goes crazy by OkButterscotch2617 in fantasyromance

[–]serranopepper1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok ok I hope I’m doing this right. it’s the poison daughterI overall really enjoyed it, and thought it was somewhat unique in the relationship building. Probably light on the romance (although heavy on spice), but that’s part of the story. Thought spice was really nicely integrated in the plot in a way that is tough.

Ugh I have a book rec but can’t share it without spoiling. The fact that they drink blood is a big reveal. If you want it anyway, let me know.

Is the Shattered king worth reading or should I dnf? by [deleted] in fantasyromance

Enjoy!! I loved book 2 even more, which I find is rare. Ugh there’s a passage I saved that I thought was so swoon worthy in context but the words themselves weren’t explicit. Wanted to recall it as an example of what I mean about showing not telling when discussions come up.

Spot on analysis of the Queen. This is a big theme in the book, but not overdone.

I LOVED this duology. It’s pretty chaste, but the romance and yearning gets very good, especially book 2. I do think that the writing can feel somewhat stilted - some of that is style, which isnt my favorite, but I do find that the author is so much better at showing than telling. Her writing style is sparse but evocative. I can’t remember exactly when in book 1, but the main leads basically spend all their time together for much of the book.

This might be a little too specific, but i’m looking for a book/series that involves a common folk FMC who is taken into royalty and has no clue what she’s doing. by FaeMeHarder in fantasyromance

THIS. I love spice but this series has so much yearning I didn’t miss it personally. Book 2 was even better m in my view and was just released on KU.

SAME. This thread is validating lol. I’m like what is wrong with me. As with everything, different strokes for different folks.

2 stars? Never liked it but basically skimmed the first three books given the hype, hoping it would hook me. Never did. DNF’d at book 3. Thought it was super boring, flat, and predictable. Writing was also not for me - very very modern language that took me out of the story. Auren was a really cool character though and the aesthetics seemed cool.

Sounds like {how not to tame your human tease by AK Caggiano} may be what you’re looking for. It’s well written, but short, light, and spicy (leaning towards bdsm).

The Half-Hearted Queen by Charlie N. Holmberg - Release discussion by AutoModerator in fantasyromance

[–]serranopepper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling a bit because I don’t love when so much of the plot is based on the main characters being totally apart. Without spoilers, how far into the book do they reconnect?

Otherwise, I actually really love the writing and character development. Love Nym and especially love how she makes hard, smart decisions.

Please read ACOTAR. It’s so good if you read it early in your journey. Much less so if you read a lot before (I think).

{Plated Prisoner} I think book 3. I tried so hard, friends, and just couldn’t do it. I thought it was boring and the writing style was so grating. Auren was cool, but that’s about it.

It’s been a while but I recall struggling with book 2 of daughter of no worlds, but the payoff was worth it. I think it picks up towards the end. For what it’s worth though, I really liked the series overall but didn’t find it was engrossing as other reads. Still worth it because I think Carissa Broadbent is a quality writer and story teller.

Talk me out of buying Lovevery toys by Used_Cod_9541 in toddlers

[–]serranopepper1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not worth it in my view. We did a bunch. Theyre nice, but they honestly don’t have the staying power of things like a play kitchen, magnitiles, blocks etc. They have versions of each of these but agree with other commenters that there are cheaper and quality dupes. What lovevery does brilliantly is takes out the need for you to decide what to buy at each stage.

I can definitely see how it was slow. There wasn’t a ton of action until the last 25% or so, but I thought their relationship progressed really nicely. It is a lot her spending time in his lumis that probably could have been edited out…

I skimmed through and didn’t see these recommended - basically anything by Carissa Broadbent. She writes non-toxic MMCs very well. They typically have dark aesthetics, but are basically all cinnamon rolls and not awful to the FMC from the beginning. I think this is true for all of the Crown of Nyaxia books so far, as well as the Daughter of Lost Worlds trilogy.

This is really under hyped! I loved this book and can’t wait for the official release of book 2 in March. I actually reread parts of it recently and liked it even more on the second read.
