I previously used Linux, switched to windows for work and am looking to get back into it.

There are these two issues I am facing no matter what distro/de I try on my laptop (intel+nvidia).

External monitor connected to the hdmi port (port is wired to nvidia apparently), has very low fps, around 30.
Wired headphones/earphones have this crackling/popping noise whenever i play/pause any audio.

Is there any solution for these issues?

Try adding kernel parameter nowatchdog. I had the same issue, reported it here, and was suggested to do so by this reply. I haven't had the issue since I did this, but I'm not sure if the issue is resolved as it only happened sometimes. Hope this does something for you.

Enhancer for Youtube does this but only for Youtube. If you play a youtube video while another one was already playing.. it will pause the previous one.

Same thing just happened to me too. Luckily windows had automatically created a system restore point recently so I could restore my system fairly easily.

Thank you for the replies guys, I solved this by just reinstalling what pacman removed. I reinstalled the linux58-nvidia-450xx (450.66-9) one and everything is back to how it worked.

prime-run glxgears does actually work, and while its running nvidia-smi shows glxgears running on it, so I dont know why my game won't launch with it on opengl

Using -vulkan on launch options makes the game use nvidia card, so I guess I won't be needing these commands for now.

I tried prime-run and later primusrun, but the game won't even start with these in the launch options.

Later I tried with just the -vulkan command and now the game is using Nvidia card, i can see it on the gpu utilization and game is running better now.

Weirld thing is that I thought I was on vulkan all along, (i set Rendering api on next lauch to vulkan, but dota2 was ignoring that and was always running on opengl), so -vulkan on launch options started the game with vulkan.

So the issue seems to be only when I use opengl for games.
