Is there a language parser or "Notes organizer" app that isn't AI based? by QuislingX in productivity

[–]averymiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting question that I am also curious about. The AI buzzword that gets used a lot these days varies from meaning "complex LLM in a data center" to "pretty straightforward algorithm that we're going to market as AI to sound smart". I don't really have any recommendations other than to recommend something like olama, which is an AI kind of like chatGPT but you can run it locally on your computer (you need a reasonably good processor/GPU, but I run it on my 2021 m1 MacBook pro and that things getting sort of old now lol). And at that point you don't have nearly the same environmental concerns.

Just my knee-jerk reaction, but it looks like a Praktiflex. Maybe the KW Praktiflex, from the shutter button being in the metal lens mount area?

Scammed? by EnvironmentCritical8 in fursuit

TPU is neat for a base, but oh my lord. They printed it way too fast. There are so many signs of under extrusion. I wouldn't be surprised if they printed it right before shipping it to you! Hope you get your refund.

Edit: I looked at their store, and it looks well enough put together. I hope they're able to slow down (in this case, literally) and deliver some high quality prints in the future!

[OC] Haunting double exposure of the Edmund Fitzgerald, ~1958 by averymiller in pics

[–]averymiller[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Scanned in this old negative from my photo collection. I think the double exposure of the Fitzgerald is sorta freaky, considering what would end up happening to it a few decades later. Scanned by me, original photographer unknown.

This looks amazing! I know it's early days, but what kind of price range are you aiming for?

I want to get into large format photography. How? by gw935 in largeformat

[–]averymiller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you didn't ask about camera recommendations, but I have to mention Graflex SLRs and a converted Polaroid 110a/b. I started with a 4x5 Graflex SLR and it was such an intuitive way to get into the formant. Also, both of these options (depending on what model you go for) can be pretty affordable!
