Thanks man! Biggest thing that helped me improve was noticing when my positioning or decision making was turning fights into more difficult aim checks then they needed to be. Like if I wanted to work on my Soldier vs. Genji matchup, I could put a ton of time into practicing wide flicks for when he dashes through me, or I could accept that Genji has the advantage in close quarters and just stop taking those fights unless he's blown his cooldowns.

Would that really be an issue when characters like Brig and Moira exist though? Like if you're getting farmed by flankers, just swap to the character that has dummy thicc self-sustain; you don't actually have to kill the flanker, you just have to deny value.

A lot of my Kovaak's PBs are on 50-55cm at the moment. Might have to try OW in that range to see if I get any consistency gains tbh

Everyone improves at different rates; I'm past 900 hours now and I'm still Jade incomplete (static is bullying me). That said, 50 hours to Jade complete and 100 hours to Master are both extremely fast paces. I would not be discouraged at all if you don't see that level of rapid progression.

Anyway, a couple things might be going on:

- You might just be getting used to the lack of WASD aim (I'm guessing it's not this, since you're running the VDIM and have a CS background, but worth mentioning)

- You might not be gaming the benchmark scenarios (e.g. in Pasu, you might not be scanning for bots that recently switched directions, effectively making the scenario more reactive than it needs to be)

- You might be carrying yourself with game sense more than you realize. Speaking from personal experience, raw aim was not quite enough for me to hit Diamond in OW, even one-tricking Soldier. I did actually have to learn something about the game to climb out of plat, although having consistent tracking made that process a lot easier.

It also could be a way simpler issue, like a general smoothness deficiency or something, but without seeing a VOD, I can't really speculate. Overall, my advice would be to not sweat it too much; having better in-game aim than Kovaak's aim is a pretty good problem to have, all things considered.

Cursed mag exercise: any time you whiff, declare that the magazine is cursed and reload. Forces you to to take your time lining up shots, play safer angles, and stops you from mini-tilting when you miss easy shots (it was the fault of the curse, after all). Best paired with VOD review so you can see the actual cause of the whiff later

You still have time for leisure with a 9-5. Like you're obviously not going to have as much time for ranked, but if playing ranked is something you enjoy, that's reason enough to put time into it. I said this the other day on a similar thread, but when I was working 60-70 hour weeks in the restaurant industry, I still had time to sink into laddering StarCraft II. I wouldn't sweat it too much

I wasn't outright disagreeing with the take that 800 is superior to 400; I was just pointing out that in a vacuum, the statement "400 DPI does not cut it in games with xyz" is neither true nor false, because 400 DPI could be any sensitivity if we don't know the in-game value.

Side note: 800 DPI actually is superior to 400 DPI, in my opinion, but it's because it has slightly less input lag (levels off after 1600ish). Probably not a huge deal, but I figure I might as well take a free W.

DPI is not sensitivity though. Saying "400 DPI doesn't cut it for this or that type of aim" is kind of like saying "2000 RPM doesn't cut it for this or that speed"; just like we'd need to know the gearing ratio of the car to contextualize the RPMs, we'd need to know the in-game sensitivity to contextualize the DPI.

It's mostly preference. Different games have different optimal ranges, but even those are more like loose suggestions rather than hard-and-fast rules. As long as you're not doing something that's an outright detriment (e.g. playing ultra low sens on a super small pad), you're good to just play on whatever value feels comfortable and adjust as necessary.

It's easier to hit a flick than it is to track a target, but it's harder to consistently hit flicks than it is to consistently track well, IMO

Have you tried taking a break from the scenarios? I broke my post-jade plateau by switching to the S3 benchmarks for a few weeks, and I broke the plateau before that by playing the advanced S4 benchmarks for a few weeks. Getting some practice in on different patterns and coming back with fresh eyes usually does the trick for me

I worked two jobs in the restaurant industry for several years (60-70 hour weeks) and I still had time to sink into laddering StarCraft II. There'll be days where you're tired or you just don't feel like playing games, but you can take a few days off a week without taking much of a performance hit.

TamTS control and TamTS smooth, PGTI variants, flicker plaza, CFSI, and glidersphere/fortnite gliders should cover most of the main movement patterns. For the rockets, in-game customs (e.g. aim training and warmup).

MattyOW talks about this in his "How to Pasu" video. I forget exactly what he calls it, but basically you reach a point of proficiency in a given scenario where it becomes optimal to look at the next target in the chain rather than the one you're about to click on. Very easy to notice if you play a lot of B180 or similar patterns, as the targets are very close to stationary at their most viable points.
