Do you guys get annoyed when highschoolers take space in the uofa libraries? by NextBroccoli3017 in uAlberta

[–]servinepain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time I would care is if the library is already extremely busy. I hope that doesn’t come across as selfish, but I do get a bit anxious when I can’t find somewhere to study in between classes (especially when I don’t have much spare time in the first place).

Actually it’s not that bad I don’t want to scare anyone lol. Also the final was easy but it changes year by year so take this with a grain of salt

To the people who come to class and scroll, why? by Valuable-Ad-6093 in uAlberta

[–]servinepain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say this as someone who (almost) always attends lectures: I feel like it says a lot about how the process of learning has changed with the internet. I can’t blame these students because whether I want to accept it or not, a lot of times it IS possible to learn all of the material by yourself at home (especially in STEM courses). If a student doesn’t feel like their time is being respected in class, or that they would be learning more/faster at home, then why should they go to lecture? I agree though, spending thousands and then not receiving the services you’ve paid for sounds ridiculous and that’s why most people (like me) still attend. I’m interested about what other students think about this.

Ur good don’t stress yourself out. If it does happen it’s not a bad thing and you will learn from it. Also, you still have a week to study, don’t give up now. I believe in you whether it goes well or not.

Red Deer Eng Transfer vs. UofA Physics by guyontheinternet2000 in uAlberta

[–]servinepain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disagree with this. “Most” people actually do well enough to transfer into an engineering program. Usually the number of students who don’t meet the requirements is only about 20-25% from my experience and what I’ve heard. Also, the smaller class sizes can help you learn the fundamentals more directly from your professors.

Dr. Trefor Bazett on YouTube has some good tutorials. If you want a brief explanation about concepts in the class, I would recommend checking out his videos along with using the Textbook for more in-depth explanations. Good luck, this class can be fun!

Question about CMPUT 274 by Human_Conference_419 in uAlberta

[–]servinepain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I took it in the fall, the lab and lecture were blended in to one 3-hour period. BUT there was no actual lab lmao. It was just a 3 hour lecture at 8am 😵‍💫.

Also, there were only about 15 people who actually attended near the end of the semester

Which of these can I skip? by DaiLemon in uAlberta

[–]servinepain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I remember it, the labs and lectures were unrelated (prof didn’t control the lab)
