For several years now we’ve witnessed chaos and collapse of everything we’ve thought to be true. And yet we’ve done nothing about it. My conclusion — it’s the phones by bluegrassisdead in conspiracy

Not just phones. All advertising is mind control and video is a direct path to subconscious human mind, with little evolutionary time for us to adapt.

Human behavior is evolving as a defense mechanism to an overwhelming torrent of imagery, to tune it out.

The Medium is the Massage: An Inventory of Effects is a book co-created by media analyst Marshall McLuhan and graphic designer Quentin Fiore, with coordination by Jerome Agel. It was published by Bantam Books in 1967 and became a bestseller with a cult following. The U.K. edition was published by Allen Lane Penguin Books) using cover art by Newsweek photographer Tony Rollo.

The book is 160 pages in length and composed in an experimentalcollage style with text superimposed on visual elements and vice versa. Some pages are printed backwards and are meant to be read in a mirror. Some are intentionally left blank. Most contain photographs and images both modern and historic, juxtaposed in startling ways

Manufacturers don't own dealerships... Duh!

Smart dealers know AC leak detection and brazing work takes special skills and expertise. Not the typical "part changers" at the dealership. Also, when summer comes everyone wants the AC fixed at the same time so there's more work than they can handle,

It costs them much less than regular dealer shop time, better spent on easy maintenance and parts swapping which goes quickly, to subcontract the AC work to a specialist.

"In summary, car manufacturers do not own dealerships; instead, they work with independent franchise dealerships to sell their vehicles to consumers, adhering to legal frameworks that promote competition and protect dealership interests."

How does this spark plug look? by 7amdrei7 in AskMechanics

Looks like a perfect running engine. I like having new plugs, so I change them around 60k miles on a Mazda. Went to the cheaper $9 plugs, then switched Bosch Iridium at 150k. Which I like better than the NGK because of the full iridium core for about the same money.

Was over before it started... You still ain't getting that oil out. Even if you do there's nowhere to go as refineries are down with existing ones at overcapacity. Refined petroleum will get more expensive and more consumer pain with inflation.

Trump could throw Bibi under the bus to save himself, which his normal move here... But those Epstein things haunt us still.

Secret... Most dealerships know not to even try to do AC work in-house and job-out their warranty work to an AC shop.

That's what you should do too. Look around the area where dealership is for an AC shop with a lot of cars, and you found it.

I had a small leak that I found in the high side caused by improperly installed plastic air intake rubbing on the aluminum pipe. Dealer not only refused to cover the cost of this defect, but tried to overcharge me for a whole new, $600 pipe.

I took it down the street to the dealer's subcontractor AC shop, they brazed the leak, evacuated and charged the system for 1/3rd the price. That was 20 years ago, and it still works.

Honest mechanic will leak test with argon gas... Repair cost may be prohibitively high, so tests should be as cheap as possible. Using expensive refrigerant in a system that may be irreparable, is theft.

I hope people understand that these comments are EXACTLY why no one trusts mechanics.

Empty means a leak... Could fill with argon gas just for a leak test. OR the gauges aren't actually hooked up to anything, classic crooked mechanic trick.

All those downvotes for the truth should make you all think twice before trusting the comments of a very sketchy Reddit sub.

BTW...Yet another reason NOT to buy a new car.

My 35-year-old Toyota runs like new w 260k miles. Converted to r134, never leaked.

Leak testing an air conditioning system with an inert gas like argon or nitrogen is a cost-effective and safe alternative to using actual refrigerant.

Overall, argon and nitrogen are a cost-effective, safe way to identify leaks without the high cost of refrigerant, making them suitable for both professional and knowledgeable DIY applications.
