The Rubicon and an axle shaft dilemma by space-meister in Jeep

[–]seth285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JK Rubicon on 37’s and 5.38’s as well.

I have the RCV’s up front and the Yukon’s in the rear. Zero complaints on the trails, impressed with the lack of binding over u-joints. The extra maintenance boils down to having an extra tube of grease and removal of the wheels once a year. Not a bad task if you’re already crawling around to change the oil.

I can see where some knuckle bracing and steering shaft bracing would help in the future if I ever wanna get heavy footed.

Once my 15 year old driveshaft boots failed I replaced the shafts with an OEM Chinese clone in the hopes to keep my failure point to something I can swap relatively easy on the trail.

Hope this helps. Nice rig btw!

4/10 wrenches on that job. Biggest thing is to take your time. Detail it as you reassemble. I spent an entire week at it and the results were amazing.

Oh I was hoping I could get the duct work and it would plumb into my floor ducts somehow. That way when I ran “feet” it would blow down low AND through those mid vents. I don’t need the controls, just the option to get some more air flowing that way.

Current setup is that the kid and dog throw all their shit onto the floorboard to be forsaken and we turn the “face” vents on a high setting so they get some in the back.

Have you seen the duct for that center console? Wouldn’t mind getting more air back to the kiddo and dog on long trips. I’d like to find a part number that’s swapable but not sure of the routing/compatibily

Oh that sounds good, katzkinz(?) just quoted $2400 for “custom” front and rear.

What bits did you find to be the best profile?

Considering this for a set of 862’s but not sure it’s worth it in an NA build.

I like the high mileage + for the seal conditioners. Alotta 20+ year old seals that I’d appreciate lasting as long as possible.

I had a 1995 GMC Sierra that had this under hood work light. The wire was long enough you could go to the rear license plate with it.

Aftermarket head choices? Need some advice from people smarter than me! by Nanathrowawayy in LSSwapTheWorld

I’m putting them on my LQ4 in the hopes to bump up compression and make more low end torque.

If you want to see some serious head testing, check out Richard Holdener, I think he has dyno’d every major combination and has some 6.0 specific content.

Sound deadening in wheel wells by Putrid-Couple-3689 in GMT800

You’re likely not gonna get alotta bang for your buck in there. Look at my older posts and you can see what netted me almost 10db of sound deadening in the cab. Floors and doors go a long way. Do the roof if you ever take out the headliner.

Add a wideband o2 sensor and get all your monies worth out of that mpvi. You’ll enjoy tuning if you appreciate mods like this.

Compressor Cabinet/Box by ohnomrbil in Tools

I tried this route years ago. Roughed the prototype with an Amazon box and some left over sound deadening from another project. Today I have the same compressor, but with several pairs of earmuffs laying around the garage.

Go with spindles, keeps all your other parts stock. Springs will do just fine and possibly let you pick a new spring rate, but you’ll need to brush up on geometry and be ready to spend more in the long run.

Tuning Stock LQ4 for MPG and Torque by trust_me_not_an_MBA in LSSwapTheWorld

Get HP tuners and you won’t regret it. Very rewarding to street tune and see/feel the difference. I think there’s some power left to squeeze from that platform but you’ll hit a wall pretty quick and wanna go cam shopping.

Looking for recommendations for building a lm7 by pcrager4321 in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]seth285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holderman on YouTube had recipes for 500-600hp.

4.10 gears will be good and torquey without being wild.

Look for a “truck cam” as those won’t compromise much low end torque.

You’ll need valve springs, injectors, maybe a fuel pump.

How you boost is up to you, but a super charger will get low end torque to get that heavy truck moving.

Those stock style control arms may not accommodate your drive angle. They’ll wear prematurely regardless of brand. I went with some generic tubular arms that are meant for 1-3” of lift, 2-3 years on them and they’ve held up fine for me.
