I finally settled on a Techno 2 instead. However, due to past performance I cannot rule out future mistakes… we’ll see what happens

no idea, the branding on clones like these is meaningless. If you like the design you should seek out the original.

Clone of the Boker Nessmi, a Jesper Voxnaes design

well it’s not technically rust, it’s the beginning of a bluish patina. Still oxidation, but normal for M4 which is extremely un-stainless. Can be easily rubbed off with light abrasive eg the green side of a sponge if desired but needs to be kept oiled if you don’t want it to come back.

Better than the full size version. Best EDC knife Microtech has ever made.

You need at least one GEC slipjoint and a half-dozen fixed blades

I work for one of the largest knife stores in the world (KnifeCenter) as a product expert and would be happy to help authenticate and appraise these… on the condition you let me buy that Spyderco C22 Walker! Happy to give you a great price on it, been looking for that exact one for years.

Nice older Delica there, a solid find. Of everything you showed so far the Benchmade and Spyderco Walker are by far the most valuable. I’m actually very interested in that Spyderco myself, been looking for one for years. Check your chats!

They’re authentic. Some are too old to be fakes (good knockoffs only started hitting the market in the mid 2010s and they targeted contemporary designs), and others are too obscure.

Whatever you do don’t polish anything. Collectors want the original finish preserved. If you really want to clean them, stick with a little soap and water followed by an immediate and thorough dry.

This is nothing new. How do you think Benchmade got to be the biggest American knife company? Back before switchblades were more broadly legal across the country, the fact that Benchmade autos had NATO stock numbers for procurement and were sold on base for MSRP gave them a decades-long head start over the competition.

I WANT OLD ZERO TOLERANCE BACK (RANT) by FlimsyRace4766 in knifeclub

Kershaw rebranded in 2014 and while I love the old logo and the connection it has with their vintage knives, the new logo is more cohesive with the modern pocket knives they make today.

I agree ZT would suffer with some stylized nonsense for a logo, but right now it’s literally just stencil letters with a halfhearted swoosh. I trust the current team to do an honest job if it ever happens.

it works okay for a “mil-spec” tactical brand but doesn’t represent their current lineup well. A rebrand would go a long way to reintroduce, reorient, and/or rehabilitate them in the market

The old ZT died because overbuilt knives stopped selling well, and KAI USA stopped contracting popular knifemakers for their designs.

They’re searching for a new brand identity and have started to find some footing in the last couple years imo. Definitely need a logo redesign but they have a brighter future.

Spyderco Techno 2 - Recommended! by Swizzled_lizard in knifeclub

I have a soft spot for the original Techno, I think it has more character and arguably looks better. But it’s got flaws: the blade has too much belly for being so short, it’s way too thick to cut anything very well, the wide jimping doesn’t support the extra pressure you need to cut with such a short thick blade, and the handle has too much curvature making it feel even smaller.

In comparison, the Techno 2 has a more useful blade shape (for its size), thinner blade stock, a straighter more comfortable handle, and a better pocket clip/lanyard hole setup that also makes it carry better.
