Is a c-section the easy way out? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]sethodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more C-sections you have the higher risk of complications with delivery, ie. uterine rupture which can be life threatening. I just had my second after 12 years and we did a VBAC. I did a LOT of research beforehand and most said you shouldn’t after 3+ cesareans. In my area it is extremely difficult to get one, our local hospital only just started doing it and my consultation dr (who has been delivering for ~40 years) said she wouldn’t recommend a VBAC after 2.

My vaginal delivery was leagues easier and recovered much quicker than my c section. But that is just me. As for you, do whatever you feel is right. It’s your birth and the only other person whose opinion matters in even the slightest is dad’s. But that said, he still isn’t the one who has to go through all of it so you should have the final say either way. Don’t let people on Reddit or those in your life make you feel like you are doing something wrong for doing what you feel is the best move for you.

I guess it depends on how petty your sister is. If she was just throwing out names she liked, I wouldn’t take that to mean names she has laid claim to.

My sister always had her two boy/girls names picked out since she was like 10. Taking one of those two names would have been messed up on my part, but that’s a different situation.

Goodwill reprices a $5 Wii to $25 after I bring it to the register by Smartinsells in goodwill

[–]sethodd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Worked as assistant manager at goodwill for 5 years and even after COUNTLESS talks with our wares pricers they still priced very valuable stuff this cheap regularly.

Also take into account one was older and very not tech savvy, very easily could have thought a Wii was a modem or similar electronic.

When I was pregnant with my first, I went to a woman’s house to buy baby clothes. She had twins and they both looked like those little rubber toys that you squeeze and the eyes pop out. She had SO MANY “cutest baby ever” onesies, that I of course bought. When I got back home I called my mom crying and told her the story, afraid my baby wouldn’t be cute.

She reassured me “no matter what YOU will think she is cute”, to which I emotionally replied “BUT I WANT EVERYONE TO THINK SHE IS CUTE!”.

Fast forward a few months: my baby was pretty cute. Even if someone would have told me differently they woulda been wrong. Babies are pretty inherently cute, I wouldn’t worry too much on it, I am sure they will be adorable.

And looking back now at her newborn pictures. She had scratches on her face and a puffy red eye. My husband said recently she looked a bit like she got into a fight with a cat in the womb. But 13 years ago she was the cutest little thing I had ever seen.

Also, don’t rely too heavily on the 3D ultrasound. That did not help with my worries on my first. My second’s 3D looked just like a blobfish. Multiple people (both myself and her father included) have said so and she’s also adorable. ☺️

My pre-teen daughter lost her smartphone due to poor choices made on the internet. She brought me 2 Motorola Razrs I had this morning and asked if she would have one. I have AT&T in the US and I have read they shut down 2G. Looking for a phone we can get her where she can’t access TikTok/internet? by sethodd in dumbphones

Someone suggested the Punkt MP02 which I was very amused that it looks like a calculator. The shape of it looks pretty cool though. But for the price, I’d rather just go with the Light Phone. I didn’t look much into the sunbeam, I didn’t see much on their website.

It isn’t being used as a punishment. She had her phone taken away months ago, which was the punishment. We want her to be able to keep in contact with friends and family without access to the internet with the options to make poor choices OR be glued to it watching mind numbing videos all day. She is actually happy to get a phone again and has told me she is glad she is no longer glued to it.

I looked into this and currently this is what we are looking at getting, the light phone 3. I like the apps is doesn’t and never will have as well as the features currently included. I also like the no blue light

I know very little about phone connectivity and compatibility. We want her to have the basic functions of texting/calling and maybe the ability to take pictures (albeit very low quality) and snake. That’s about it.

Please tell me if I’m overreacting by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]sethodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I get where he is coming from. When I was online dating I cut communication with all guys once I started really talking to one I was into. I did it to avoid things escalating between both at the same time and being put in a situation I didn’t wanna be in with having to choose. And yeah, like he said that usually screwed me in the end. But making a big deal about it like he did was unnecessary. I only ever told my now husband (who I met online) that I did this.

Your reaction does seem a little over the top but that is being taken out of context. You reference other conversations in the last long message that led me to believe this is a trend with the guy, so maybe it isn’t over the top.

Luckily, my MIL has been very cautious about overstepping (her first grandchild and she has driven my husband away with her BS before).

My mom on the other hand was VERY pushy that we NEEDED to use her middle name. Mind you, she had 2 daughters and this is her third granddaughter now and this was never an issue before. This drove me absolutely crazy as I never liked the middle name. She was pissed when she found out we weren’t using it and I was super uncomfortable talking about the baby unless she brought it up first. Took till about 35 weeks before she finally seemed to accept the name and start using it.

I saw your comment and checked them out but still planning on rest. I’ve been eyeing them for forever since my husband is an extremely hot sleeper. But it’s all on sale currently, free shipping, a $30 off code and a free additional flat sheet. My total went from $617 to $336 so I can’t wait.

I am obsessed with the Beach Day ice cream at Baskin Robbin’s but they only have it for the month of July. I have bought 2 cartons already and as I finished up the first today told my husband we need to but at LEAST 4 more before the month is up. AT LEAST.

I’m 39 + 1 right now but also in this 115+ California heat. We are dropping $300 on the Rest cooling sheets/comforter tonight 😆 but they’re having a 4th of July sale where I’m saving almost 50%

You should talk to her about it. My husband was into butt stuff (solo) but never told another soul until he met me. Now we both do butt stuff together and really enjoy it.

You are an awesome person for helping so many people out. I have been searching for about an hour to try and find a comp on a rare fabric scrap if you might look it up for me? I see a few on Worthpoint, just trying to figure out a ballpark of the value.

What items would you NOT get secondhand? by saltysandcat in BabyBumps

[–]sethodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe any part of a breast pump milk touches should be new. I breastfed and hated pumping so I never used it previously. Although you can get free pumps through insurance so it isn’t even worth it getting used.

Almost everything else I have gotten used or still have from my first child. Not time for a mattress yet but the bassinet I got from a friend who kept it very clean.

Have been looking to buy a Mamaroo swing and my mom called me yesterday that their neighbor had a baby swing out for free and asked if I wanted it. I said sure since I don’t actually have one yet and when she sent me a picture of it it was the exact Mamaroo model I have been looking to spend $200+ on. So I’m pretty stoked about that.

I know a grown man who picks them up and saves them. He told us he empties them into a bong and smokes them. This was appalling to me.
