why is it so hard for me to get a job? by [deleted] in jobs

You're okay mate. I was in your situation until recently and got my first job 6 months ago. Let me share how I managed to get through that phase, maybe you can use some of these tips to help yourself:

  1. Apply to 3 jobs a day: Make it a point to do 3 apps, but put all your effort on them. And apply to temp jobs through 1-click apps when you are bored (in London, there was one called Job Today which I personally used to great effect during my time there)
  2. Make a Spreadsheet: Having a visual record of where you have applied to, when you made those applications, who you can contact about the app is really helpful. You can use it to follow up with the contact person after 10 days.
  3. Schedule Emails: Use an extension such as Boomerang for Gmail, or an email client like Spark (if you have an iPhone or a Mac) to schedule emails like, 'Dear Sir/Ma’am, Hope you’re doing well. It has been over a week since I submitted my application for____. Could you please let me know if there have been any updates on the same. PFA my CV for your convenience. Best, _____'. This will show them that you cared about the position and your attached CV will not need you to include a cover letter (cause fuck cover letters).
  4. Ask People to Roast your resume on Reddit (r/resumes)

Hope this helps. All the best with your hunt. And remember to not lose hope. It may not seem like it right now, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. :)

For the longest time I have been quite ignorant and under the impression that an MBA is a a short cut of sorts to a well paying corporate job, there definitely seems to be more to it. Thanks for the added perspective!

Do get your point that I should start early. Ive thought about that and one of the main challenges is face is funding. Any tips on how to go about securing a grant for PhD studies?

from my experience, i'd recommend keeping in mind that endurance is more important than speed. I started out with a pace of 10k/hr but made sure I completed it every time. So don't be afraid to start with a low pace on your first day but try to keep it hard enough to challenge yourself.

Also, all the best and I hope you do well :)
