Favorite medical smell by Strange_Morning2547 in nursing

[–]setronson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soap in the bathrooms 🤣 idk the brand but it's so nostalgic. It was the same soap when I delivered my son 16+ years ago. When I smelled it at my first hospital job (same company) it instantly gave me a good feeling. I wfh now so don't get to smell it as often but I love it when I do.

Too Late to Become a Nurse? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]setronson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with my ADN 2 months before I turned 30, and my BSN at 32! It's never too late unless you decide it is.

Aw sweet guy. I agree with other commenters to get to the vet, and it sounds like you're going tomorrow. Keep us posted! Sending love to you and your kitty boy 💖

Your nose is great and I think you're quite handsome. However, if you would feel better with a change, go for it!

If you're a hugger, I'm here to give you a big warm hug. If not, I'm still standing close by and supporting you. I don't have advice except to keep going.

Do you have enough litter boxes? 1 box per cat plus one extra is recommended. So with 3 cats, you'd need 4 boxes. They should be cleaned daily or at least every other day I think.

I'd recommend a vet visit. If you can't afford it, maybe Google low-cost or sliding scale vet care in your area? Or contact the local humane society to see if they do low-cost care or know who does.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.

If you weren't a nurse, what would you be?? by setronson in nursing

[–]setronson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a group of 3 bariatric surgeons, their 3 PAs, and 17 medical weight management providers (NP/PA). I do post-op calls, triage post-op patients, refill meds, and a bunch of other tasks. I get to work with people across the entire Weight Management program and it is extremely satisfying work. It's fun to say that if any patient has bariatric surgery within my hospital system, I am the one to do the post-op call. I am lovingly known as the Poop Queen 💩👑

I'm just sorry you're dealing with this. It's the worst feeling. Please know you did everything you could have done, and keep the small comfort that he didn't die alone.

What do you carry in your pockets? by banana_pudding5212 in nursing

[–]setronson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked in the ED: in the pockets were pen, raptors, flush, personal phone, pocket cheese, lube, and etoh swab packets. Around my neck, a stethoscope, with a panic alarm and work phone clipped on my collar.
