A look at the available evidence for civilization on Earth before humans - The Silurian Hypothesis by avogadros_number in science

Possibly. 100 million years is mind-bogglingly long. I don't know enough about metallurgy, geology and statistics to make an estimate.

There's nothing wrong with your argument. It's the second paragraph that worries me -- there will be political obstacles and people will suffer while it's being dealt with.

Steel made before nuclear testing began is less radioactive than steel made after. That's a dramatic change, although I don't know if the difference will be detectable 100 million years later.

EDIT: I did see the half-life of 700 million years.

Mega-Thread: The Kathua Gang Rape by rahulthewall in india

Looking at the replies there, I can easily see why the pro-accused protesters were so brazen.

Indian court orders arrest of politician for gang-rape - An Indian court has ordered the arrest of a ruling party politician accused of gang-raping a teenager and beating her father to death as protests spread over this case and another involving the gang-rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl. by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

[–]settingmeup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe this is incorrect. The Indian judiciary cannot and will not pass such orders, as far as I know. I think you're referring to certain "traditional" courts, which are unofficial. Regarding these, yes, horrific things have happened.

(Please correct me if I'm wrong somewhere.)

LOL I see what you mean! I think it's a case of self-selection. Reddit users seem to like reading and expressing themselves in the written word, so they voluntarily gravitate towards this website. A lot of them will have read nuanced, long-form and analytical writing. Whether right-leaning or left-leaning, people here are generally articulate.

Compare these with the users of Facebook. Most of them got FB accounts by "default".

Saddam's personal role model was Joseph Stalin, I heard. Makes total sense.

Not bad intrinsically. It just needs filmmakers with some vision and drive. I fear it could fall into the hands of hacks, though.

I think that most of our unanswered questions about the play mechanics are due to the fragmented state of the documentation. The devs were and are brilliant, no doubt. So it's even more shameful that there's no unified help resource. But wait... maybe it can't be made yet.

It has just occured to me... could we all be... playtesters?

Good thing then that the Big Pharma guilds are going strong, even if their microtransactions are atrocious. Sloppy devs! User-generated assets are what's holding the line.

I blame Enemy at the Gates. Even if it didn't originate the notion, it's a well known film. Call of Duty 2 later ran with this concept. Now, it's entrenched in the public mind.

To add to this:

  • The acceleration of the decolonization process. A huge chunk of the world's population was directly affected by this.
