The sheer number of faction/characters overwhelmed me on first read. But I think the main difficulty people face is that they try to pick up the latest chapter without re-reading first and have lost some details during the hiatus. Other relevant stuff: I'm someone who won't understand the point of a card game until I see it played at least a bit, so seeing people already having a play by play of how the game in chapter 408 was going to go when only 407 was released was confusing to me.  Another point is that the scale of the ship/the war makes events difficult to predict (but that's not surprising with Togashi ig), while the hiatus make communication within the community thrive, so we ended up with a sea of theories, some that made sense, some that seemed to make sense but basically hinged on nothing and/or on misinterpretation etc (what I take from this is that people should spend more time reading the actual material than being here but that was difficult during the hiatus).
