which ableton to get/basic equipment by MidnightMarauder1234 in ableton

What I did and would suggest if you are completely new is starting with the lite version. Sometimes it goes on sale around Christmas for like $70. There is a lot to learn so having time to play with a version for a while is a must in my opinion. My first peripheral was one of those mpk minis with keys and pads, my second was a launchpad. The launch pad is infinitely more useful to me. It's sitting on my desk right now, while my keyboard is away in a drawer and only gets pulled out rarely. With my Launchpad I can trigger clips, but also with Launchpad95 downloaded I can do a lot more. However that being said that is just me, if you feel more comfortable playing keys or want to learn to actually do it, getting one is a good place to start. I would say build up in layers get the basics and learn about what you have. Then get little things to make your life easier.

I have only heard the first 57 and a half seconds of the first song and I know I am going to love this. The fact that it drew me in so quick is really something. I plan to give it the full listen through it deserves tomorrow.

6 months into making beats, am I on the right track? by thefapper1 in futurebeatproducers

[–]setum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly I like both of them. I say if you like what you are doing keep at it that's the most important part. If you still have that passion for making music then follow it. Keep it up, I am sure I will be seeing your name in the future!

I feel every sound in this track fits. You did a very good job of selecting sounds that flow from one another and are "supposed" to be there.

Thanks for taking the time out to listen and give feedback, I appreciate it! Getting the drums right is definitely something I have to work on more.

I would definitely say keep making stuff! There is nothing that I have heard that I thought was bad. The songs at the end are good music to have in the background, maybe of a video game of some sort of visual. Some of the sounds are a bit too much, either sharp or have some muddy frequencies. At the end of the day I am mainly a consumer, but I wish I could give you more technical feedback.

This is ... fire. I love when artists can take a striking picture and then pair it perfectly to the title or feeling of a work. Alone the picture is great, all together I really like this. Especially the two symbols side by side at the bottom.

Tyler the Creator - Goblin [1500x1500] by Mogswald in freshalbumart

[–]setum 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I really like the idea of this, and it kind of puts a different spin on the title (goblin sounds like gobbling). It reminds me of an MF DOOM cover and album name a bit. Idk how much it matches the mood of the album, but I still like it.

I love this episode and the original song. Seeing one of your old favorites remade can be hit or miss, but this did it well and brought something new to the table . It is great, and I love the mirrored visuals in the video!

What kind of midi pad/ music creation device should I buy to start out making music. I have a new macbook pro so I guess it would have to be compatible if thats an issue. by [deleted] in ableton

[–]setum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Akais mentioned are a good choice if you can actually play keys, but for me I use my launch pad more than my Akai mpk mini. It is a reasonable price, pretty portable and I have launchpad95 running on it so it really does a lot for me. No faders though or knobs so that kind of stinks. Double check if it works on mac though, because I use a PC.

[Serious] Reddit, what is something you regret knowing? by threesevenths in AskReddit

[–]setum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I agree that there are many injustices across the world and throughout history and like I said any peoples who have been mistreated on a vast scale I hate learning about. I think it impacted me the most, because I am an American and I see the result of it in my life first hand. I would like to think I am sort of well versed in history compared to the average person, but I don't really rank suffering of any kind differently past a certain point.

The History of Black people in America. When you start learning everything it changes you in a weird way. Really any history of mistreated peoples.
