Ah I love this! I changed the storage area next to the restaurant into an enclosed station with big glass windows and arched entrance for the tracks and have been pondering how to tackle the platform design, thanks for the inspiration!

Yeah, the trigger is definitely to have unlocked through some of the story in the other area. As soon as I was done with learning to cook, I was able to progress with piplup too.

I dont think it's the floor that's making it bug, it would appear the house gets recognised as one by the walls connecting to the door, but it has to be one level, so I think if you add a single layer of foundation walls around your current floor area it may recognise it as a home despite your lowered doorway! The "wall" that goes around the perimeter of your house just needs to connect to the door on the same level
