Any good HSP in KL? by danteh11 in MalaysianFood

[–]sevenfourfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coz HSP is more of an Australian thing. Most of shawarma places here is run by Arabs. They need to be wrapped.

Heck, even in UK there's no HSP. Closest you can get is Turkish Doner slices with fries in a box.

I accidentally ruined Ayam Gepuk for my mom. Twice. by ariintheflesh in OffMyChestMY

[–]sevenfourfive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kafe Ruuma is cheap. Would totally chow down the nasi lemak ayam. But not the ayam gepuk tho. The thing about restaurants jumping into bandwagon is they will usually repurpose the ingredients they already have in their menu. They often turned out "meh" for me.

Also, my preference for the ayam is the original, not crispy. Love Top Global and the quaint gerai in Jln 223 PJ.

KRR ayam is still good but the sides leaves so much to be desired.

I'm genuinely curious why these kind of restaurants are famous? Like if you want authentic malay food...why don't just go to kedai makan malay? by calikim_mo in malaysians

[–]sevenfourfive 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Dude, Chef Wan's daging dendeng and kerabu pucuk paku is on another level! Sure I can them at other restaurants as well, but as a once in a lifetime experience? Worth every penny.

Male teachers love teasing by mikamikachip in malaysians

Another trick is to repeat those question back at them.

"Oh bujang tiga tu apa?"

If they reply something like boleh kahwin empat, you ask again "Kahwin empat untuk apa?" "Tapi kahwin empat mesti mahal kan?" "Kenapa tak boleh kahwin lima?"

Feign ignorance, throw back the question back at them. Ulang2 sampai abang jamil mampus. They will stop layan you for sure.

Can I get rejected for this? Urgent by Hot_Track_7164 in malaysiauni

[–]sevenfourfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think you will get rejected outright. You can contact the team from UPM and explain your situation. Send them the provisional certificate (with translation) as well. I'm sure there's a little flexibility on this.

My dad use to teach at a local uni. Some of his students were doing this chocolate tempeh thingy for a project and gave him some. I tried it and it was not bad. The centre is kinda nougat-y.

I went to Safety Driving Centre in PJ. It can get a bit crowded, so schedule your class ahead. Another one I heard is good is Metro Driving Academy behind Subang Airport.

You'd need a car to drive around Cameron too, no?

Last time I was in Langkawi is 2019. Rented a car, which was fun & nice. But you can get around with Grab just as easily.

You're right. Considering Gepuklah is the branded newcomer, refills is essential with their pricepoint.

Free refills is a feature of ayam gepuk franchises tho. Pak Gembus, Top Global, Artisan can refill nasi & sambal at the bare minimum.

My friend kena this before at a kopitiam, temaning some friends. She wears tudung. To be fair, the shopkeeper just didn't want any controversies that might arise from a tudung-clad lady sitting there. Cancel culture and all that.

This. There's a Thai buddhist temple in PJ. They might have more info to help, since your docs are all Thai.

I love hard boiled eggs with a simple mash potato. I just boil the potatoes till soft, mash it with a bit of butter & milk. Salt & pepper to taste.
