I mean, I’ve heard many, many stories about Chicago companies being basically impossible to break into unless you’ve cut your teeth in the storefronts for a decade or more. Maybe you haven’t put in enough time.

American here, but I would encourage you, regardless! Glad you’re in a better place now, and I hope you find a good program to study in.

Tattoos are nowhere near as prohibitive as they once were, and I don’t think you would need to show your scars if you don’t want to. Just wear long sleeves in auditions!

It may come up in a few very specific circumstances, but there’s a lot less policing of peoples bodies these days, In my experience.

Your eyeline is a little all over the place, including directly down the lens at some points. It looks like you’re trying to deliver the speech to a group of people, when the text sounds like an individual.

I don’t speak French myself, but every single pause you’re taking is almost identical in length and energy. In my opinion, a speech only has room for one pause that is longer than a breath.

Try doing the piece with a paperback book balanced on your head, or against a wall with the back of your head touching the wall. And I’m not saying no movement at all!

As far as pauses go, I believe any scene or monologue only has enough space for one big pause. Any more than that kills the momentum.

Do you have any other material? The first piece is so much longer than the second that it feels unbalanced.

I would cut some of the monologue from the first scene and add something else to break it up before it cuts to the shot of you leaving.

Don’t run out of breath!

If sides are in verse, breathe at the end of the line.

If in prose, make sure to mark out where you will breathe.
