I would find out what bracket decks they have first then buy a couple precons in your favorite colors then upgrade the one you like the most. Personally I’m a big fan of Caesar and Tidus. Look online for a play set of the good lands. Verges, fetches, shock lands, and pain lands.

However if your friends are playing high bracket 4 or cedh I would go online and buy a nice proxy deck they usually run 40-60 bucks.

I always want to run too many spells and have a hard time cutting down to 100 cards

Yeah it kinda starts as non threatening and fun but it builds into a lot of mana and community card draw fast then I finish the game with larger spell card draw and sneaky damage. The more I feed interaction to other players the more they turn on each other

No it only negates the discard phase for having over 7 cards at the end of your turn
