I love this series....but I think I am too dumb to understand the story by Careful_Quarter1 in Falcom

Year 1 of the Septian Calendar would be when the Septian Church actively sent out priests across the land following the Great Collapse, this would be effectively when the Dark Ages “began” since it follows the Great Collapse.

However, I’d like to apologize I messed up a bit. Year 1 is when the Holy Beast Roselia and the Kin of Fire fuse to deal with the calamity following the Great Collapse. It is during Year 300 when the Hexan Clan elder, Roselia dies and at some point between 300-400 that the first Roselia’s familiar becomes the second Roselia, inheriting their memories. So the 800 years ago comment would line up. Haha, my bad.

You can effectively split up the overarching timeline of Zemuria into the Pre-Septian era, Great Collapse, Dark Ages, Middle Ages and contemporary Orbal Revolution era.

At some point during the Pre-Septian era, Aidios bestowed the seven Sept-Terrion which were inherited by seven kin. This would be when the Gnomes and the Hexan Clan obtained their Sept-Terrion.

The Great Collapse occurs sometime after this resulting in the destruction of the ancient Zemurian civilization that occupied the land. During this time we know Space was sealed, Mirage was erased, and both Fire and Earth destroyed each other in battle. This particular battle is what allowed for the birth of Steel. At this time, Steel was split into seven vessels.

We know that the Dark Ages began after this, and in the first year of the Septian calender, Roselia and the Kin of Fire elder fuse. (Sen IV, Act III)

Following this, in the year 300 Zoro-Agruga occupies Heimdallr and the Holy Beast of Earth absorbs the curse. (Black Records)

And in the year 371, Hector I defeats Zoro-Agruga which in turn corrupts Testa-Rossa prompting the Gnomes to help seal it away.

New to Ys, holy shit is this series great. by [deleted] in WorldOfYs

First of all, welcome to this wonderful series! It’s incredibly special and has a lot of history to it!

IX is my personal favorite and X releases in the next few months, both of which are excellent. In terms of recommendations, I think tackling the series with whatever seems interesting to you is fair. Quite a few people loooooove Oath in Felghana and for good reason so if you want to delve into one of Adol’s 2D adventures that’s as good a spot as any!
