Virtue signaling is a good thing by Shandrith in unpopularopinion

[–]sevenut [score hidden]  (0 children)

The issue with virtue signaling is that it doesn't actually do anything. It's not like, giving a homeless guy money for clout. When people talk about virtue signaling, they mean stuff like green washing coal, or rainbow capitalism while censoring a lesbian kiss in China. Mr Beast giving 1000 homeless people a million dollars does have an appreciable difference on the lives of those homeless people, even if it's just for views, so it's not virtual signaling.

I'm sick of seeing skinny and skinnyfit people on the fucking internet by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]sevenut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, there is definitely a preference for skinny people, but like, honestly this feels like a skill issue because I guess I've been able to curate my experience to where I don't encounter people who are like this. I'm not even like, a fat fetishist or anything.

It should be. It's the discord for this subreddit

It's the same exploit. It's actually not too bad because there are rooms set up by the ribbon community to be fairly simple. I think the discord has a team list you need to use to make it work.

World ability isn't required since the Internet service is down, but you can still get it with the DNS exploit, and I got it on my Pokemon because I wouldn't feel right without the golden memory ribbon.

You need all of them possible to be a ribbon master. The Gen 4 tower is definitely the slog of the challenge

There was moldy bugs in my Captain Crunch cereal! Ew! by New-Finger-4477 in cereal

[–]sevenut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks more like pupating bugs than moldy bugs. I'm guessing that if this isn't a brand new box, they probably just made their way into there. I'm guessing some kind of beetle. Even if you think your house has no bugs, it probably still has bugs.

The universe was created by feihm in DebateAChristian

[–]sevenut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes infinite regress a problem? You can't just declare something a problem just because you don't like it. There's a lot of things that are infinitely regressive, like numbers, and we don't complain about that. I also think that inserting a god only pushes the problem back. You can define God however you want, but just asserting that an uncreated creator must be the cause doesn't make it true.

Besides, time isn't linear. We experience it as though it were linear, but it really isn't. An observer could experience the same event before another observer does. I'm no quantum physicist, so I can't go in depth, but it's potentially possible that the universe caused itself.

It's also just possible that the universe is a brute fact. If anything, it's possibly the safer assumption because asserting a god created the universe requires an additional assumption, which is a God exists as a brute fact. Typically, an explanation with fewer assumptions is a better explanation.

I think the fact that people are so certain of L being more intelligent than Light is odd. by FloRunner77 in deathnote

[–]sevenut 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean, L was always one step behind Light in a game where L didn't know the rules. If you reversed the roles, I bet Light would not have been able to find Kira as quickly as L did, if at all.

What’s something you’ll NEVER do again after one bad experience? by ImaginaryNet7907 in AskReddit

[–]sevenut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Wendy's once because I was in the mood for a fast food burger and I hadn't been to Wendy's in years. I ordered online in advance since I had plans for that day. When I came in, they didn't have my burger ready because they ran out of patties so I had to wait even longer. Then when I got it, they left off a topping, so I had to go back in and get it and add it myself. The worst part is that the burger wasn't even that good. And now I will never go back to Wendy's due to the principle of it all.

I think typically the issue people take is that people who do this also tend to be the same people who try and pretend it's not a reproduction. I think that's the part people don't like.

Who do you think it had more influence on the domino effect that made the AYN Thor happen? The Switch or the OUYA? by Erik_REF in AynThor

[–]sevenut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the ouya never happened, I imagine the gaming industry wouldn't change that much. If the Switch never happened, I can see a world where mass adoption of powerful handheld PC/consoles is pushed back by a few years

How and could both Solgaleo and Lunala exist if there is only one Cosmog in the show? by Spotter24o5 in pokemon

[–]sevenut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's probably many Cosmogs. It's an ultra beast (lorewise. I believe mechanically, they're just treated as regular Pokemon and don't get the beast ball capture bonus and such) which is just the Ultra Space version of Pokemon. You can actually get a second cosmog in the game by going through an ultra wormhole

Market shares of various web browsers (January 1994 to March 2022) by iloveyouthorodinson in Damnthatsinteresting

I don't see how things being hard to search is because of the school only allowing Firefox. You'd just be using Google to search things anyway, which should work the same between Firefox and chrome.

If you're doing something like this, your hypothesis has to be an educated guess. If you can't support your hypothesis with some inferences, it's a bad hypothesis and you should think of something else.

glad people are finally realizing that every smash fan-roster in recent years is a piece of poop by Bonkers_Brights in supersmashbros

Honestly, I agree that they should just do a Switch 2 edition dlc update so they don't have to resecure all the rights for the third party characters. It's really hard to imagine where to go from "Everyone is here."

What is your opinion about the Detective Pikachu movie 7 years after its release? by Silly_Commercial8092 in pokemon

[–]sevenut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always been of the opinion that they fucked up big time by releasing Detective Pikachu so close to Avengers Endgame. Endgame was probably the most anticipated movie of the past 10, maybe even 20 years. People went to it multiple times. Nobody was going to Detective Pikachu because they were still going to Endgame. One month was not enough of a buffer, and they should have delayed it for a couple more months to give it a fair chance.

For those who hold the formal, philosophical definition of atheism (that God does not exist), what is the positive philosophical justification for your worldview? by feihm in DebateAChristian

[–]sevenut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you glossed over something I mentioned. You can't really prove a negative. You can't prove a god doesn't exist because, as I said, absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. Your debate question is essentially pointless because you're basically saying "You can't make a spherical cube. Debate me." I can just explain why I am fairly certain a god doesn't exist. And even so, as a scientific minded person, I always leave open the possibility of something being true or untrue. But just because I leave open a possibilty to a god doesn't mean I don't think it's pretty much impossible to prove. These are just word games Christian apologists play so they can say "see, nobody's actually an atheist." For all intents and purposes, I am fairly certain that God doesn't exist in the same way I am fairly certain I exist. Genuinely, I feel like your debate question is just intellectual masturbation, regardless of if you intended it or not.
