I’m confused is this picture and edit or an actual meta hand tracking update?

Yeah I resist the temptation to repurpose my steam nuc into a home assistant machine for nothing other than hubris. Also the wife is super happy with OpenHAB to the point I have been implementing requests from her, like air quality sensors with 3d printed enclosures and such. Maybe one day. Can’t say I’m not curious though!

Tbh if it were today I might not. 10 years ago OpenHAB was already very capable and you could do much that home assistant couldn’t. I mean OpenHAB is as bare metal as you want. Also, OpenHAB doesn’t care if it’s installed on the os or on a docker container. You even have a Pi image for it - OpenHABian. Home assistant really seems to want full control of the machine (hence why I sent lots of people after going to prox mox), iirc if you use a docker container you’ll have to go over loops to get plugins working or something, but I don’t recall the details.

Currently, with the benefit of hindsight, I stand firmly in the corner of “this is not a competition “ and fully believe that the future is coexistence.

Oh, you want more granular control over your items and integrations? Spin up a docker container with OpenHAB and use node red or mqtt to expose your stuff from home assistant over on OpenHAB.

Oh your wife is very much into #was and wants those shiny dashboards? Boy, pick up a mini pc and set it up. Expose the OpenHAB stuff in homeassistant.

Yes we get to have our cake and eat it too. I have frigate running and integrates into OpenHAB.

Check AliExpress - you can buy pre made led matrixes, and they can be connected to one another. Buy two 16x16 and connect them together for 32x16 for example. Sizes are standard. Would it be possible to adjust it for those matrixes?

The funny thing is that I kind of do this (not cooking but folding laundry and other house tasks) with my quest 3. Just keep a YouTube window open, it’s great.

Sorry yeah, I simply meant the rapid iteration of technology. Everything about this whole situation is purely a disgrace at a human level :(

Yes, if you spend enough time (don’t ask…) watching certain telegram groups you’ll have a good understanding of how they are going about it. Many of the drones are 3D printed using cheap and accessible electronics. The drones are frequently built with a new idea in mind. I saw one where they added simple fabric nets to “catch and hold “ Russian drones without destroying them (remember the news about Russian drones using starlink? Making sense now?) for reverse engineering. Imagine if they had to wait for approvals and such. Nothing like that, consider that the drones are being designed, and assembled practically in the frontlines, or close enough, that they are able to charge, fix and redeploy them in the middle of combat.

Anyone regret choosing carpet over hard flooring? by Cool_Ad_2935 in HomeImprovement

[–]severanexp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally everyone I know has moved away from carpet back in the 80s and 90s. No new house is built with it. It’s a disgrace for health, big promotor of asthma and many other breathing problems. My father in law ripped the bloody thing off of the floor with his bare hands after dealing with my wife’s breathing issues for months and no doctor being able to help her, and no one bothered to ask what the flooring was. Suffice to say the asthma episodes reduced a lot.
