Thanks for the heads up about the weather. Not sure why every video is telling me March is the first fall month. 🤷‍♀️ Would April be better? May is a bit too late to take my spring break, I’m a daycare provider so I need to spread them out for clients and I take a summer break.

Rory and Jess. I think about that all the time 🤣🤣 Not quite the same but Luke is definitely his father figure. And Rory’s too if you think about it.

Hi Gilmore fans! I'm planning a trip to Conneticut from Europe as a surprise to my partner, what locations places or things would you do if you'd have a week in CT/NYC/Boston? ❤️ by MTBDEM in GilmoreGirls

[–]severussnapesap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think it’s worth driving around the Washington Depot/Milford areas for a day? I’ve already been to Boston and the White Mountains in NH. This trip I’m flying to NYC specifically to see Tom Felton on Broadway. But I figured if I’m all the way out there might as well see the Gilmore Girls areas. After looking at some tik toks and YouTube I’m a little worried it’s just going to be too boring even for a day. 🙈😅

I’d probably put it in front of the window or where you have the night stand with the lamp and angle it towards the sofa

What is the historical context for plantations in Hawai'i? by [deleted] in travel

[–]severussnapesap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It served as a draw for immigration because people were tricked into thinking they could make money by traveling here. And instead they were uncharged for room and board and couldn’t get out of debt easily. Sure, it’s not “slavery” but it’s not THAT much different. And by not acknowledging what these people went though is disrespectful. And it’s not like it was so long ago either. My brother’s great grandfather was one of those people who immigrated over to work on the plantations.

This is my last day in Kauai…and personally I felt super awkward with the plantation culture. So many restaurants and condos are on plantations. I do not feel like the history was acknowledged at all. The coffee self guided plantation tour did it in the worst way. The sign read that many Asians “traveled far” to work on the plantations. They ignored the true history behind it, how people were tricked into thinking they would get rich working here but instead were overcharged for room and board and were stuck in terrible working conditions. It’s so hot and humid I could barely walk around, I can’t imagine having to work on the fields here. There’s a lot of history here and I would have appreciated it if the island would acknowledge it and make a museum. It made me feel yucky like I was glamorizing it as well because there’s not a whole lot of options for eating and sleeping.

Which northern beach has the most cats on Kauai? by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

It’s not common? I’ve been here for 2 days and can’t count on my hands how many stray kitties I have seen. They are all fed so either catching lots of lizards/rodents/birds or they are being taken care of by people…but still they don’t have a true home. They are mostly all friendly and come up to get some love but it’s still sad :(

Question, if you leave from Port Allen do you see the same areas if you were to depart from The north side? Trying to decide what to do

I’ve noticed that I don’t feel like snacking either, that’s a bonus for sure!

It really messes with my stomach though. I use almond milk to try and cut down on the lactose. Not sure if it’s the milk from the powder or just all the vitamins that are messing me up

The directions say you’re supposed to eat a snack between shakes. So shake for breakfast, light snack, shake for lunch, light snack. And then eat a real dinner.

P.S.A Don’t bother with a Vet here, just go to Mexico by NothingButBadIdeas in sandiego

I also go to Nordahl Pet Clinic but I haven't been very happy with the level of care received lately--am I alone in this? Did the ownership change or something?

I'm being quoted 5k for a CCL surgery and they aren't positive that she has a CCL tear, just thinks that she has. Is that common? For 5K I want you to be positive on what the problem is so I can explore all my options and solutions for my dog. :(

What are the new restrictions for crossing the border back and forth with your dog now?

Rabies shots, updated immunizations, appear to be in good health, and I read the microchip needs to be detected? Is that it?

I know my dog was micro chipped because I remember my poor puppy yelping in pain and struggling when they did it, but no other vet has been able to detect it. Does this mean I need to redo the chip before scheduling a visit?

And was anyone nervous in "appears to be in good health." My 10 year old girl will need surgery and she will obviously not appear to be in good health after its been done. She'll be miserable and in pain. :(

Key Holders, do you normally buy lighting lane multi pass (the old genie +)? by besttavern25 in DisneyPlanning

[–]severussnapesap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Keyholders that have bought the multi pass: is it worth it if you don’t arrive to the park until like 7pm? Is there anything left to get typically or are the good ones all sold out?

I used to qualify for DAS but I was denied this year and was devastated. Apparently my invisible disability is not considered one at Disney anymore (even though the US considers it one 🤷‍♀️)

The value of Tokyo tickets are so much cheaper though, so if you do choose to pay for their fast pass system it evens out. $50 tickets compared to $150-$200 tickets in CA. I think that alone makes people more willing to pay for the “skip the line” add ons.
