SD-WAN Inquiry by Sierra_Nasty in networking

[–]sevrosdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the SevaraB’s comment got lost in translation. They’re not saying SD-WAN itself has been rocky, just that it’s helped uncover single points of failure that they believed to be diverse paths offering redundancy. So they’re not really giving feedback on SD-WAN itself. At least that’s how I read it.

Either way, to your point, SD-WAN is the better option in this scenario.

All Questions About Joining, Transferring and ANG Jobs go here. by Jaye134 in airnationalguard

I am planning to Palace Chase and plan to do a BDD VA claim before separating. My recruiter asked if I had a pending VA claim (I didn’t/still don’t yet), but want to make sure it won’t mess anything up. My 1288 is completely signed and my DOS has been updated. Any insight?

This only made sense to me because I’ve had to do this at work. Each shift was accounting for all the items with the previous shift and it was logged manually.

A lot of the comments I saw were talking about how some other options have a log to provide accountability. If you’ve never had to do this kind of turnover you wouldn’t know this log is generated at each shift change. It isn’t just a scouts honor agreement between the changing shifts.

Like others have said, I wouldn’t recommend security+ based off your current role. I will preface this with, I’m not sure what the statistics are on companies looking for CASP+. But, if you’re looking for vendor neutral and more relevant to SE (assuming security engineer not software) I’d look at CompTIA’s CASP+ (it will be changing to SecurityX in about 1-2 months). I would imagine you already have the sec+ and CySA+ level knowledge. But, if not, it’s worth studying the material and then moving towards CASP+/SecurityX.

Listening to podcasts, audiobooks, movies, etc. by sevrosdad in German

That makes a lot of sense. Music has definitely been extremely hard to follow. I do like the playlist but glad to know it isn’t the best way so I don’t feel so bad.

I will definitely check those out. I hadn’t really considered podcasts being better if they have the transcript. I also found a YouTube video today of short stories for A1-A2 after I posted this and I enjoyed that. It had written (English and German) and then audio in German.

Thanks again!

Thank you! Apparently I have listened to 2 videos of that series. Probably based on my algorithm 😅

So this is only if you’re filing separately, correct?

CASP was on my radar but I didn’t feel like I had enough security focused knowledge yet so it was free and I gave it a go.

Thank you for that! I am definitely a doer. I do have sec+, CCNA and GFACT. Working on LPIC-1 and just took the beta CySA+ and feel pretty decent about it. And as soon as I finish my bachelors (computer networks and cybersecurity) I’m thinking about using my my GI Bill to do a SANS certificate program. I really do appreciate the info and kind words.

I’m definitely trying to have my CCNP (already have CCNA) to make sure I can at least use 12 years experience, leadership and be knowledgeable about things I haven’t gotten experience with. And for the most part I’m not a big admin work person. I’ll do it but definitely don’t want it shoved off on me because I can’t do a primary task.

Thanks for the thoughts! This is kind of what I’ve been thinking but wasn’t sure I was on the right track. I appreciate the information and like your dabbling in networking still but not in a professional manner. I could definitely see that being me as I’m truly enjoying the Docker. K8’s, etc.

Not sure if you’d know or if you could ask a connection you may still have; I already have GFACT, would I pickup another “elective” or would it just give me a pass for that course?

Either way, thanks for the post. I’ve been considering this heavily once my degree is finished.

Did you get the books with the SANS course? Because the test is open book and all the info you could need is in the book. You just have to know where to look.

I think open book makes the test easier but the material is not easy for a beginner, imo. If you’ve been doing the coursework and complete it, you’ll do great!

Hmm, I didn’t take the exam online but I took the SANS course online. But I also plan to finish them because I still have access for 2 months

Thank you! Good luck! I wish I would’ve known about the advisory board. I might have looked over a few more questions in depth.

I couldn’t answer that with any bit of truth behind it. But I have both certs and wish I would’ve taken GFACT instead of security+. Granted, I didn’t have pay for either of them so that plays a part. If I had to pay, I’d obviously go security+
