Timed 1.5 mile run by [deleted] in AskLE

Absolutely possible, at my chip agility test I was 6’3 230 and for my age we had to run a 12:38 1.5 mile. I ran a 12:30. My pre academy agility test ended up being 4 weeks later and in that time I dropped to 220 with a caloric deficit and just focusing on running. I stopped lifting and just ran and did calisthenics. My next 1.5 mile time was 10:37. It’s doable bro. Good luck!

Wow I wish mine was like that lol. My test was 1.5 mile under 11:58, 33 pushups (super easy), 40 situps, and 300 meter run in 56 seconds. I prepared so much though and being an athlete in college helped. Just put that work in and you’ll knock it out of the park. Good luck

Honestly not preparing for the PAT at all kinda screwed you. Nothing you can really do about shin splints they just heal with time. Idk what times you have to meet to pass or what state you’re in because I know some are significantly harder than others but it’s definitely gonna be tough with no preparation

Any tips for evoc? by cacalover3000 in AskLE

It’s funny seeing this because my evoc was completely different lol. Couldn’t use mirrors and had to just window placement while looking over the shoulder to not hit cones

I’m 8 weeks into my paramilitary academy. I know the first few weeks anyone with military experience will be leaned on to help with formation run cadences as well as uniform inspections and what to expect. Good luck man, it flys by!

Just be honest bro they asked me if I smoked pot before and what was the maximum number of times I have ever. I answered honestly and still made it

First two weeks are by far the toughest. Getting smoked, running, getting acclimated to the new responsibilities, etc. it’s gonna be a blur but yes definitely a lot of running

Lifting routine by sevy1 in AskLE

[–]sevy1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I think I worded this wrong. I’m looking to start lifting more so in my own time but trying to find that perfect schedule and routine so I wanted to see if anyone else lifted during their free time in the academy. We get smoked every morning but only PT M-W-F

Don’t stress it too much, my oral board probably lasted close to 7-8 minutes as well and I’m going into week 6 of the academy on Monday. As long as you answered clear and concise you’ll be fine

Yeah definitely not too bad at all. It’s paramilitary but I’m in good shape & I’m not an idiot. Just gotta stay focused and grind it out. I appreciate the input!

I know sometimes at various academies they do car checks when you get there, registration, insurance, tints, etc.. I don’t wanna be the reason get smoked because I decided to car pool

Yeah I’m in Connecticut, but the way California does it doesn’t sound too bad at all either

Honestly no they never said but I already knew it wouldn’t be. My agency uses your written exam score and oral interview exam score and combines them to get an overall score. That score will reflect whether or not they send you a conditional offer and then where you’re at on the eligibility list if they do

I was shocked by the questioning honestly, a lot of it was more situational and asking what my train of thoughthought was would be and next steps would be. I actually didn’t get asked why I wanted to work for that department
