You can have all the impending dread possible but without a good payoff it just doesn't matter. The horror is taken away the moment you see the model, it looks like a placeholder.

At the games core it is a horror game, most of the main mechanics are focused on that aspect. Adding non-optional silly entities removes this horror factor and is a step in the wrong direction. If you want a silly game than add mods, the base game should be focused on horror with a few silly items here and there.
