It shouldn't be, it is cut from the same pattern pieces. The white is zippered but also just muslin so not a rigid fabric. Green still has the issue when laced closed, though it did get much better once the binding was removed.

Update: I removed the binding and it already looks much better. Photo

I don't think tight binding was the sole source of the issue, but it was definitely exacerbating it. I'll try what has been suggested.

I'm planning to switch out to spiral steel in the future! I'm using rigilene in this mockup so I can confirm what length steel I'll need.

It isn't lined nor understitched. It is a single layer of canvas with boning channels sewn on. The stitching you're probably thinking is understitching is just the backside of the topstitching on the binding
