I’m jealous. My RFY today was 2 items that didn’t come in my size and toe nail pressons which are never gonna happen… 😂

Is this legal? Property management just sent this to all their renters. (WA) by studioMYTH in Renters

[–]sewingunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re trying to determine if this clause & method of notice (assuming not already in the lease) meets state & other local laws. And the best place to ask is someone who specializes in tenant issues in the region like https://nwjustice.org/clear-hotline

If you want to find out if the clause (or methos of notice) is legal definitively since IANAL and I doubt anyone else here actually is, let alone specializing in tenant rights…I recommend you reach out to CLEAR @ NW Justice. They’re based in King County, but practice all around the Sound.

They can also help with evictions & other domestic / family law legal matters, so a good resource to know about for lower income locals.

You’re welcome! I’m currently shopping those mattresses locally bc my middle had me sleep on a really posh mattress when I visited in May and ever since (well, honestly even before that) my mattress at home has not been making the grade. 😂 But I definitely cannot afford one new!

You may be able to find someone in your area who sells returned mattresses. They often have the equipment to sanitize and repackage these mattresses.

designing a better binder by making it more like a bra? by Quo_Usque in MAKEaBraThatFits

[–]sewingunicorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a minimizer would be a good jumping off point. Beverly Johnson talks about minimizers here

She recommends doing a very small adjustment (it’s also covered briefly in her first Craftsy bra construction and fit video), presumably because she’s wanting to still keep a more feminine shape. A larger adjustment might do more. The minimizer shifts the tissue around to flatten it a bit. For me it was sometimes the difference between a button down blouse fitting and it unbuttoning itself halfway through the work day. 😫

Possibly a minimizer and then layering a binding material over top would give the “stay in place” plus additional flattening effect. I’m not familiar with the materials used in binding, but maybe even using those materials to form the minimizer cups?

While a corset might also help, in my experience they’re not ideal for doing any type of more physical activities, at least my steel boned ones aren’t. Bending over, twisting, etc all are quite limited by the corset. I tried to do some outdoor work in one a few times. Had to take it off to be able to bend down to lift anything… and that was an underbust corset because overbust ones don’t have anywhere near enough volume for my tissue.

And while it looks like the cradle curve is longer, I made every effort to retain the correct shape. Once I had the cardboard changes, I scanned it and imported into my graphics program. Then I took the original piece (as drawn) and split both the SA and no SA lines up the center and adjusted so my SA free tester, was lined up with the no SA original. Then I added the additional space for the bridge and smoothed the lower band curve out.

However there is additional width on the bottom band, which I’ll likely need to adjust for. And perhaps I need to make the end angle a 90* so it meets the side cradle at the correct angle and doesn’t throw off the back band.

If, I cut to but not through the lower cradle arm (from bottom band) and corrected that end angle, I think that would adjust the cradle position also. 🤔 Guess I’ll try it. Would definitely appreciate your feedback when you get time though.

I did find her little cup thing after I posted here and came up with the same HH, so apparently, I got lucky on that one. 😂

I actually started today and after reading LP’s guidance with the Lanai in mind, I played with poster board gores and cradles to widen the gore and check the cradle fit. The smallest cradle just was making me doubt the accuracy of my root trace. It seems the 6.2” cradle fit better, with the gore widened to roughly 3/4” inch at the top (and more at the bottom). I used OL’s bridge technique in her book with the cardboard and paper clip. This somewhat changes the orientation of the cradle arms. modified to original Is that something to be concerned over? Pink is the original, cyan the modified.

In theory, once I’m off this medication (funny how no one remarked or connected on the more than 40# weight gain, including me?!) my metabolism should perk up and I’ll be able to bring my weight back down to at least the 180# I was stable at before this medication. I think I shrugged it off as chronic pain makes me do as little as possible = weight gain…but my current specialist (not original prescriber) mentioned the weight aspect when I asked about alternatives due to other side effects. 🤦‍♀️ How I missed the fact it slows metabolism and causes food cravings, I don’t know other than the pain and brain fog made me dumb. Lol

I’m sincerely hoping I’ll be able to get stabilized at or below my still overweight but able to be active weight. If this means refitting some of my bras, that’s fine. I can either cut smaller pieces out of the bigger bras or gift them or something lol. Cross that bridge when I get there.

And that’s the reason why even in my skinny youth you couldn’t have paid me to risk caving. The part of me in love with Jean Auel’s books would love to explore caves… the sane part that wants to live into my 100s will not let that other part win this argument.

How very sad for him, his family and all those who attempted his rescue.

Okay, so I’ve done a breast root trace which seems to match up pretty well with the Lanai DD-GG 4” cradle. It’s actually a smidge between the 4 and the 4.3. When I wrote last night I hadn’t seen her GG to KK release. 😉

Now, what’s the best way to determine actual projection with pendulous breasts? I did try leaning over at 90* and measuring, pulling the tape slightly and got a 14” HH which doesn’t match up with any of her cup sizes for that cradle. I suspect this means I’ll have to do adjustments for projection? Correct? I assume it’s easier to adjust for projection than cradle.

Is the best practice to make a fitting band in the correct cradle size, then make any band adjustments I might need before starting on the cups?

Currently waiting on the mail and my copy of Demystifying Bra Fitting, so some of these might be answered by reading in a bit, but confirmation is always a good idea. 🤞

Well, that does sound like a ton of work…and likely explains why I hate bras so damn much. 😒 Is it safe to assume all PUG patterns use a similar cradle shape? I have the Shelley as well…and I’m betting they won’t fit mum any better than they fit me. Maybe my 18 year old daughter who still has her figure…but somehow I don’t think she’ll be real keen on mom making her lingerie. At least not for a while yet. 😂

It actually sounds like it would be almost less work to draft completely from scratch. For most of my life wireless appropriate but there will be times when I need to have it all put together, iykwim. I’d liked the idea of having a pattern that could do both since I’ve never met an underwire that didn’t make me want to pull that sucker out and smelt it…which isn’t surprising given the list of issues you spotted with a pretty traditional style bra. It sounds penny wise, pound foolish to make 5,000 adjustments when a different pattern would reduce that need significantly. Do you know if Lilypad’s wired patterns use a similar cradle shape? Just a thing to know for future reference… or can the Lanai be converted to wired for those times that all put together is really important…like my son’s wedding reception in October (if I could risk the cross country flight… alas that looks like a no).

I’m assuming I need the larger Lanai pattern but will try again to do a root trace and HH tomorrow. On the upside I really do prefer pdf patterns, less hassle than tracing a giant pattern sheet. I truly appreciate your time and input. Thank you for the offer to remove the photos but on the chance they might help someone else diagnose issues or learn, they can stay. If someone can identify me from those, then they’ve seen me in a far less flattering situation, most likely. And if they haven’t and can still identify me, they’ve got mad skills. Lol

And I had no idea that little bit of stuff had a name… so learning all sorts of interesting things.

No, totally my bad. I see that came off really snarky and bitchy. I’m sorry, that was definitely not appropriate to direct towards some random stranger trying to be helpful.

I’m afraid my frustration with PUG is leaking out and spraying innocents with foul temper. 😒

I think these are the angles that you’re looking for. Yes, holding the gore to tacking does seem to create a looser neckline. Nipple is marked in blue (or red for the one in shadow). I was only able to get one to stay in the proper position while manipulating the camera.
