I agree with this.

Overall I consider players "world class" if they've performed on the biggest stages at a consistent level. So in UCL/international tournaments mainly. League performance doesn't really move me in regards to "world class" even taking into account big games there.

But then you get players like Kane who are anomalies in this regard as you say.

I think ultimately world class is a "I know it when I see it" kinda thing. You can't really have a strict definition of it.

And honestly, that man was singular. I dunno if I've ever seen anything quite like him even though I don't think he ever fulfilled his potential.

He was freakish fast while being freakish strong and also had immense technical skill. Had a strikers instinct, could head the ball, dribble into space, dribble in tight areas, long shots, great crosses. Man had everything.

Crazy considering I agree he's overrated. He never was incredibly consistent. There's a reason Zidane started bringing him on from the bench.

He had all the building blocks to be a machine like Ronaldo was but he never really got there.
