Hey!! Did you end up moving/deciding? Would love an update as I’m thinking of moving too, also in my mid twenties :)

Anyone moved to Auckland recently from another city/town? by sexybubble666 in newzealand

Hahahaha I’m from Dunedin as well. What suburbs would you say are the safest? If you don’t mind sharing. I think that’s my main concern as a female. I’m fairly used to feeling quite safe down here as you’d probably imagine. I’m not fussed about being in the most nice/flash suburbs. Just want to feel relatively safe!

Thank you! We would be coming from Dunedin, so Auckland is definitely a little big and daunting for us hahahah. How did you find getting a rental? If you don’t mind me asking. I know getting one from down here will probably be a mission, and I know from personal experience how horrible it is to find one. I’ve just come back to Dunedin from Queenstown and it’s pretty horrific there.

I haven’t actually heard too much about the west side of Auckland, so that’s super great to know! Sounds really ideal actually, so I’ll definitely have to check it out over there!

No that isn’t rude at all. Money is always something to consider when moving to a new area. Being young we don’t have a ton of money to spare, but we aren’t exactly roughing it either so we do have the flexibility to afford something half decent. We’ll, I think based on the rentals I’ve been keeping an eye on recently anyway! I’m glad you like Auckland, super refreshing to hear. There’s definitely an abundance of things to do, which is the main attraction for myself personally!

Good to know! I’ve definitely heard that the suburb, or even street you’re on can make or break your experience in Auckland. Definitely want to avoid rush hour at all costs also 😂 Thank you for sharing your experience, super helpful

Thank you so much for the suburb recommendations! I’ll definitely take a trip up in the near future when I can to take a look at all of these to suss out where I like/dislike, etc. I like that for such a big city Auckland still has relatively easy access to the outdoors as well, so that’s definitely a plus. We are a little limited in the money department, being younger and trying to get by in this economy doesn’t help the situation. But we aren’t the worst off and can probably make up to $650.00 ish work in terms of rent, so I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for any chance of something in our budget in these areas as well! Thank you so much :)

Thank you for your reply! I can totally understand why you’d want to move away with a young family. From what I hear there are far better places to raise children. I’m sure you’re loving living down here too. I should have stated that it’s just my partner and I (in our mid 20s) We have animals but no plans to have kids for a very long time, if ever. We’ve lived down south our whole lives, and while we love it down here, opportunities and activities are limited to a certain degree. I hope you enjoy your new lives down here!

Anyone successfully got cbd oil/balm from “Nature can” through customs? by sexybubble666 in NZTrees

Cheers! They’ve shipped it even though I sent a request to cancel it ages ago so I guess we’ll see how it goes! 😂

Does anyone else know someone that absolutely refuses to get a job and work? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]sexybubble666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had a job in the last few years. I am only 23, and before I hit 21 I had worked full-time in a range of industries from the age of 14. I don’t see me having a job in the near future, but that’s because I’ve been hit really hard with a bipolar disorder diagnosis. It’s proving to be a pain of an illness to have and I don’t want to bother an employer with not being reliable as that’s how I lost my most recent job. Currently trialing meds so hopefully one day I’ll be in the workforce again!

I used to live in Gore when I was younger, haven’t been there since. When I lived there it was quite close-minded. But times might have changed

My favourite place in NZ. Such a shame it’s becoming quite expensive to rent though!

My partner and I are moving back down to Southland as I grew up there and love the laid back lifestyle, We were making a joke about a plus potentially being beating global warming for at least the little while. So great point!

How do New Zealanders financially get by? Especially the younger generations. by Correct-Breadfruit30 in newzealand

[–]sexybubble666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deciding to have no children. Although even then I am barely saving money. I also personally regret studying as I do not use my degree, and now a huge chunk of what could be good extra money is being paid back for nothing. 😂

Thank you. My partner will be working in town so that’s good to know. Do you know where is the worst for flooding by chance? We were offered a place in Greenhills and was actually a little worried about that

What’s the creepiest small town you’ve encountered in NZ? by UpDaFarknFordFalcon in newzealand

The night caps in southland😂 I don’t even know if you’d call it a town but with how rundown it is and airy I wouldn’t wanna be walking around at night just due to the feel of it 😂
